First time vacationing in Greece. Prior to that, with a beach holiday were in Egypt and Bulgaria. We traveled as a family: my husband and I and our 2.7-year-old daughter.
Wonderful island, wonderful Greeks, wonderful hotel, wonderful everything!!!
The hotel is located in Kalamaki, which in turn is located very close to the airport. So close that every day planes from England, Russia, Germany, Spain, Italy, etc. flew over us at a very low altitude on the beach. It was a fun pastime - to guess which country the plane was flying at the moment. Many people ask if the sound of aircraft engines that fly right over the beach and the hotel interfered. The answer is no and no again! The first two flights were audible, but then we got used to it and did not react. Moreover, the sound insulation is quite good, closed the balcony and silence.

We got a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool. The room has a double bed and a folding bed for a child with a good thick mattress. LCD TV on the wall. In 2011 There were no Russian channels, like now - I don’t know. The mini-bar is a little cold, but our yoghurts are not sour, so it will do. Safe at the reception for a fee.
The room is small in size, but this did not bother us, we almost only slept there. Bathroom with bathtub (not shower) but no curtains, water pouring on the floor. As a practical person and already aware of this problem, she brought a bathroom curtain with her, but there was no rod for it, they tried to attach it to the walls with adhesive tape, but due to water getting on the walls, the adhesive tape dampened and the curtain fell. As a result, I had to get used to wiping the floor after a shower and squeezing out a rag every time. Nothing, got used to it.
The room was cleaned every day when we were at the beach. A friend rested in the same room, but in August she complained that they came to clean at a time when the child was sleeping during the day. And so every day. But the reception did not fit. I think that this is all solvable, you just had to voice your request for a cleaning time. I'm afraid to lie, it seems that in 10 days the bed linen was changed twice.
The territory of the hotel is small, but green and well-groomed. There is nowhere to play. But in this village, almost all such hotels. We went to the village almost every evening. 10 minutes to the main road, along the edges of which there are many shops and restaurants.

The staff worked for 5+. I have never met such diligence and desire to please. The owner himself monitors the work of the staff and even helps junior staff in the dining room. Service is fast. There were always enough tables. There were no queues. Purely. The food is varied and very decent for a 3 *. Yes, there were not 500 dishes, but there was a variety: beef and chicken, 3-4 times there was also fish, various side dishes. I will not list, because there was a standard set. And most importantly, everything is fresh! We had breakfasts and dinners. For dinner, drinks for a fee: tea, coffee, wine, beer, juices. Well, like everywhere else. For lunch, they bought yogurts in liter buckets and ate them with a delicious bun with the whole family. I saw in the price lists that in 2012 they also had ALL. For some this will be useful information. But the hotel continues to operate on HB.
More about the staff. We were blown away by the two guys in the canteen serving ALL summer from 7 to 22 tourists. And so without days off. We asked them about it, and they said that this is how I work from May to October, and then they live in their cities all winter on what they earn. But hellish work. They run quickly between the tables, smile (! ). Even with a minimal set of English words, we managed to talk, it turns out one of them was in St. Petersburg with a friend. He praised our city, he was satisfied. And for some reason he also said that he did not like to serve the Poles. Well, yes, this is a lyrical digression.
I must note that the Greeks are generally such a calm and relaxed people that you are amazed. It seems that everything is so at ease, but they do everything quickly with a smile on their face. Both in the hotel and in the stores.
The beach is sandy. 3 minutes walk to the beach. The beach stretches along the entire coast, there are no fences. Beach village, free. But. In principle, this is the case almost everywhere in Greece. If you want on a sunbed with an umbrella - pay. And so, a lot of people, including us, sunbathed on rugs and with umbrellas bought here in a local shop. Cheap and cheerful. The sun was very hot, so on the second day I had to buy a second umbrella, which was very well done. All the time smeared with cream, although it was June. Even in Egypt, we didn’t burn like that. But here....As soon as we left at the end of June, the most inferno began. I don’t know how the tourists coped there, but we were lucky. During the day it was impossible to be on the beach and we went to the air-conditioned room, the daughter slept during the day. In the evening it was also warm, but there was a light breeze and there was something to breathe. In general, the air on this island is very humid. The island is small, all around the water. 28 degrees counts as all 33. Well, that's my feeling. Caretta caretta turtles lay their eggs on the beach. This is if anyone is interested. But turtles have never been seen, they crawl out at night.

The sea is clean and calm. At least that was the case during our stay. Entry into the sea is gradual, convenient for families with children. And in general, many families rest in this hotel. But there were also young people. I think they are there because of the bargain price.
Animation is not and never was. And it's wonderful! For 10 days, once in a nearby hotel there was a rock and roll evening, there was music blaring until 2 am. But we again closed the balcony and the music sounded in the background, the child walked so much during the day that he fell asleep instantly. And so there was peace and quiet. Music played in the background in the bar, it did not reach our balcony. The bar, lounge and dining room are made in a very pleasant modern style (the photo of the hoteliers shows the hotel before the renovation).
We went from Solvex. Well received and welcomed. There were no overlays in anything... But. We visited 2 excursions - a sightseeing tour (a little bit of everything) and Askos Park (very interesting for children). The guide was on both excursions a girl named Anya. Tex excursions knows well. It tells a lot of myths from Ancient Greek mythology. And about everything else. But we have not received any response to our questions. About the famous red bow, about what small houses in hotels and on the roads mean in the form of tiny chapels with candles and photos of strange people (later we found out that the Greeks keep the memory of the dead in this way, for example, on the territory of our hotel there was such a thing with a photo of the creator of this hotel and a candle was constantly burning there). In general, to all our questions, she shrugged her shoulders and said "oh, well, I don't know. " Very unprofessional. They live there all summer, probably many tourists ask the same questions, well, aren’t they themselves interested in everything related to this country, its customs and peculiarities. The girl was very young and I attributed everything to her age - she came in the summer to earn some money, everything else does not bother her much. Well, not the point. Still, we were glad that we went on these excursions.
I note that there are unfairly few reviews about this hotel on the Internet, which may be why few people go there, but I want to assure you that the price-quality ratio is perfect. Not all 5 * hotels in Egypt and Bulgaria have such a situation as in Greece. As my husband says, after all, Greece is Europe. And it is felt.

I will be happy to answer questions about the hotel and the island. Contact, do not hesitate. True true!
