My husband and I rested in August for 2 weeks, we liked almost everything, first of all, the nature of fabulous beauty and the perfectly clean and gentle sea.
We chose the hotel for a long time and carefully, including using the reviews of this site - and were not disappointed at all !! ! As a result, we got a very sparing vacation for the budget and a lot of positive!
Before that, we were offered Dalmatia and Meteor - they are closer to the center, accommodation is more expensive, and there is a narrow and dirty beach, again a common plus noisy plus boats...
"Riviera" is located on the outskirts of Makarska on the first (!!!! ) line, 8 buildings located in karkady hide in the shade of olive trees, palms and pines. From early morning cicadas chirp, black squirrels jump in search of food.
The buildings are 2-3 storey, reminiscent of a children's health and sports camp of the 80s, I suspect it was so before, since there is a tennis center nearby, the kids are training.

Compared to the hot city center - an oasis of fresh air. There is no pool, but with such a gorgeous sea a stone's throw from housing, it is not needed at all.
There is a municipal beach nearby, more spacious to the right, if you go even further to the right along the walking path - you can find very beautiful places, almost deserted coves that you need to occupy early, otherwise nudists nest there))))))). The water is clean, especially in the morning. We snorkeled, various cute fish swim up and you can feed them with bread. In the morning the beach is in the shade of the pines hanging over it, by lunchtime the shadow crawls onto the promenade, along which there are numerous cafes, snack bars, pizzerias, etc.

The hotel is good for its 2 stars. The rooms are small, but clean, very comfortable bed, clean towels, no TV, but somehow it didn’t feel like watching. They clean every day but not very carefully, towels are changed on demand, the bed was changed two or three times during the entire stay, but it didn’t bother me somehow. The room also had a minibar fridge.
Towels for the beach were taken with you, but you can buy on the spot, also selling mattresses, umbrellas, fins, etc.
The food is excellent, although somewhat monotonous (for breakfast, there are always boiled eggs, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, several types of muesli, milk, drinking yogurt, cottage cheese, jam, honey, fresh vegetables, butter, bread, buns, sliced cheese, sausage, tea, coffee - machine, powdered juices, but there are plenty to choose from.
Dinner buffet + main course (choice of 4 menu options - meat or fish + garnish) + 1 drink (wine, beer, cola... )
In the evening, after dinner, the entertainment program is mainly live music, competitions for children, on Wednesdays the Dalmatian fish evening (the director himself prepares pilaf with mussels) grilled fish - I liked it very much!

Internet at the reception, Wi-Fi zone, plus 2 very antediluvian computers (for a fee, but few people use it, mostly everyone has their own laptops). The reception staff speaks English, so we personally had no problems, plus I printed out a short Russian-Croatian phrasebook before leaving, which sometimes helped out.
Near the hotel there are many shops such as a mini market, there are shopping centers at the other end of the town, fruit layouts - prices are more expensive than in stores. In general, you can walk around the whole Makarska slowly in 25 minutes. We bought peaches, min water, juices in a nearby Tommy's shop, pastries for a lunch snack in a bakery, which is 2 minutes from our building.
We went on a half-day (8-00 to 14-00) excursion to the Biokovo Nature Park - I liked it very much (bought it on the walking alley), as well as to Plitvice Lakes for the whole day (bought from the hotel guide) I also liked it - the amazing beauty of the place, only the road is tiresome. Our neighbors at the table in the restaurant, the Russians, about 55-60 years old, went by ship to the islands of Hvar and Brac - so they said - nothing special, just a sightseeing walk with a landing on the islands plus lunch. By the way, in addition to these sightseeing ships, a passenger ferry goes to these islands from the port of Makarska, which is cheaper.
We also went by bus to Brela to look at one of the most famous beaches in the world, swam there, swam around the Brela Stone, at the same time walked to Baska Voda, we were terribly tired, we hitchhiked from there and returned to Makarska.
Pebble beaches of different sizes - from small to very large cobblestones, in some places it is uncomfortable to enter the water, hedgehogs are not found, there are on wild beaches at a depth of 3-4m. The entrance to the water is also where it is smooth-childish where it is immediately deep.
One day we rented bicycles, rode along Makarska and through the forest to neighboring villages (the path is sometimes very narrow with sharp stones).
I didn’t like the departure from Split airport - the room was cramped stuffy, all flights were rushing to check in at all counters, the airport staff was impolite - they pretended not to understand our requests to mark luggage as fragile (((

Travaritsa (herbal tincture) was brought from Croatia, and it was cheaper in Duti, Pelinkovac (wormwood tincture), Orahovac (walnut tincture), Krushkovac (pear liqueur), hard sheep cheeses, prosciutto. (everything was bought on the last day in the supermarket)
