Weird Christmas in Budapest
We flew to Budapest for Catholic Christmas.
Everything is closed from 14-00 (metro from 16-00) on December 24th. Everything is EVERYTHING: both shops and cafes, including up to and including the 26th.
There is nothing to do for more than three days. This is not Paris, not Prague, not Vienna, not Florence, not Barcelona. It's something like Berlin or Bulgaria with their "sights".
Dirty, filthy city, where all the sights are REVODEL with excellent evening illumination.
Locals say something (with the exception of the hotel and public places) only in their own, understandable language. They do not understand Russian and do not try to understand. English, too, seems not to have been taught at school.
Of the pluses - the relative cheapness of hotels, flights and transfers. As well as the proximity of other European capitals, where there is something to see and where Russian is spoken everywhere.
