Advantages
1. Access to the city nearby
2. Green well-groomed area
3. Meals for all tastes - fish, meat, vegetables, sweets, fresh juices, fruits (could have been more, for 5 *)
I recommend.

With pleasure I will return there and I advise everyone to fly there... it's unforgettable!! !

The time for rest we chose rainy - January. It rained every day, although I won’t say that it annoyed and stressed us, because the rains were short and fast, often came at night, in the evening, and sometimes they didn’t exist at all. Despite this, there were enough tourists in Bali, there were a lot of Russians, I would give the second place in terms of attendance to the Chinese, and then the Europeans and Australians. By the way, the last ones here are only 4 hours away, so they like to relax here. It took us a long time to get to the paradise island from Ukraine: to Kyiv - 4 hours by car, then by plane to Frankfurt 2.5 hours, the waiting time for the next flight was 5 hours, then the way to Singapore - 10 hours, and after a 2 hour stay at the Singapore airport - 3 hour flight to Bali.
I want to pay tribute to Lufthansa airlines - everything is very civilized, polite and beautiful ... They fed well, offered a wide range of drinks, including spirits, blankets and built-in TVs in the back of the chair, where there were even 5 films in Russian. At Bali airport you can buy a visa for $35. just like they did it to me in the agency - a second of business. Suitcases were not wooled or checked from anyone, alcohol was not taken away, as I read about it in the reviews of travelers, I was probably lucky. In Bali, we were met by a guide with transport and taken to the hotel, it took about half an hour. They settled us quickly, the room is good, spacious. There was one Russian-language channel and free internet everywhere. The Melia Bali hotel is located in a park area, very beautifully decorated, well-groomed, constantly swept, washed and decorated with fresh flowers. There are several pools, restaurants and bars on the territory.
In the evenings, there is live music and singing in the lobby, and in the early evening, local musicians play and dance Indonesian dancers right next to the reception at the entrance to the hotel. At the entrance to the restaurant for breakfast, you will also be greeted by a local musician. The staff constantly smiles good-naturedly, folds their arms and bows, everyone greets them without exception, wherever tourists they come across ... The constant tides forced us to swim according to the schedule, but this did not bother us. We had a bay, so we could not see the turbulence of the waves and the noise of the ocean near the hotel. Algae endured a little, but they were immediately cleaned up and buried, and they were in small quantities in the water, so there was no impression of dirty water. (I write all this in detail so that people who read the reports of others do not make hasty conclusions about the hotel and the rest.
Many spoke very negatively about the low tides, a piece of mold found in the bathroom (they weren’t even too lazy to take a picture of it and put it in the report), about the monotonous and boring breakfasts, high prices in hotel restaurants, mosquito baiting in the evenings on the territory. I think whoever wants to look at everything in a black light will do so, but I really liked everything. Souvenirs can be bought right on the beach - locals walk all day long back and forth along the beach and offer you hairpins, paintings, jewelry, pareos, knitted dresses, dishes - you need to bargain. (100 US dollars = 9.500, 000 rupees))), yes, in millions, it’s better to change in a bank). Right there on the beach they offer various excursion programs with a Russian-speaking guide (a guide with a car costs 30-40 dollars for the whole day, you only pay for the entrance tickets yourself).
We chose a tour of the island of Bali: we went to the Batur volcano, however, we were not lucky - it rained and there was heavy fog, so we didn’t go to the volcano, we had lunch with a view of the foggy volcano))). The guide did not take us to the Besakih temple - he said that there are a lot of bad people and tourists are offended by him (I think, judging by the reviews I read, he meant imposing his guide in the temple, who does not speak Russian and you had to pay for it Otherwise, people were prevented from watching the temple. ) The guide took us to the village temple, led us into it, seated us in the shade and popularly told everything and answered all the questions. The precipitate was that I did not see Besakih, but the energy from the holy places was received, so there was a feeling of satisfaction. A light residue was left by the fact that they want to “dissolve tourists” everywhere, the guide brought us to a woodworking workshop (the prices are exorbitant, I’ll say right away: the mask that I liked cost $ 80.
, but then they themselves considered it for 60 dollars. and I think that it was far from the limit of discounts))). A jewelry factory and, again, a store near it: the products are very beautiful, but ... for that kind of money you can buy very good gold jewelry in our house))). Batik factory - a very beautiful assortment, prices are fixed and bargaining is not appropriate. The guide was entitled to a percentage of our purchases, so our guide was completely sour at the end, because we didn’t buy much. And on the way we saw a lot of villages where they also sell batik and wooden jewelry and the prices there are not at all cosmic. We looked at rice plantations - there are shops with souvenirs, near which, again, the guide stopped us. They showed how coffee, fruits and other plants grow, there is also a tasting of coffee drinks, teas and a shop with goods. Bought lemongrass tea, Sudanese rose and Mochachino coffee.
At home, they found that there is more sugar in the pack than anything else, so the pack is designed for only a few cups. Branded coffee "luwak" did not make the proper impression on me, although I do not consider myself an avid connoisseur and coffee lover, I drank better coffee. We visited the park of birds and reptiles - this is really a class, it brought a lot of pleasure, we took a lot of beautiful photos, we took parrots, a jaguana and even a monitor lizard for not a lot of money. On the same trip, I agreed with a guide about a trip to the island of Java (the cost is $ 210, my husband is not a fan of outdoor activities, so he preferred the beach and let me go alone))). In Java, I was met by another guide with a driver and they took me to all the sights all day long.
The guide from the island of Java spoke Russian worse than Balinese, but I really respect their zeal for mastering our difficult language))), before the trip I read materials on the Internet about the objects that I would see, and it was easy for him with me))). We arrived at the Prambanan temple in the morning, so I managed to see it without witnesses, excellent photos came out, in which there are no 5-6 people of Chinese origin))). We also looked at the park, Sheva temple and other temples. The Borbodur temple, of course, is not in vain called the eighth wonder of the world, it really amazes the imagination, and even more surprising that after the earthquake it could be completely dismantled and restored. The program included lunch at a restaurant. There was still time before my plane, and I was kindly taken to the local mall, from where I had to leave at the appointed time. Along the way, the island is not as safe and calm as Bali, so the guide never left my side.
Prices on the island of Java - surprised ... very pleasant and good quality textiles. Souvenirs and batik are cheaper than in Bali.
On Epiphany - my husband's birthday, ordered dinner on the coast of Jimbaran (I read a lot about this in the reviews). They promised that the fish menu for two would cost about $50, but in fact, when we were brought there, it was cheaper than $70. there was nothing on the menu. The restaurant is more like an eatery, not very clean. The day was very cloudy, it rained all day, but the sun still came out going to bed, the rain stopped and everyone began to take pictures at sunset. Unpleasantly struck by the piles of garbage carried out by the ocean and the untidiness of the beach. Served fish-rice soup-puree. Then half of the grilled lobster, squid, spinach, grilled shrimp, mussels and grilled fish. All the seafood served was not salted, then I was told that it is not customary for them to salt (!! !
), I don’t understand this ... that’s why I didn’t like it, we didn’t finish eating many dishes. They brought the bill - $ 100 (we also took two glasses of white wine and fresh) + 20% for service)))) - these are their rules ((((.
Almost next to our hotel there was a shopping center with many shops and restaurants, so the quality of cooking there is an order of magnitude higher, and prices are lower ... We chose the Laguna restaurant, there, by the way, there was no extra charge for service and 160-180 rupees could be good have dinner together. By the way, I have never come across good cocktails, very little alcohol is poured, it is almost inaudible, the ice melts quickly, so you can only drink half a glass for pleasure, then + water))) (the same in the hotel). Freshies are not bad.
An unpleasant moment that blurred the rest and the impression of Bali is the departure from the airport, where you have to pay 15 dollars per nose (transport fee!! ! ), although 35 dollars have already been paid for the visa. from a person.
You also have to pay for luggage back and forth, and it doesn’t matter that you don’t have an overload - two suitcases of 15 kg each cost us 50 euros (import - 440 rupees for two, so you can’t leave the country “aground”) . I decided to spend the rest of their money (about $ 4) on some trinket for duty-free, I was shocked by the prices. I decided to buy a can of beer for $ 3, but the exchange rate was such that the can just came out $ 4)))), even I was kindly treated with indulgence and "forgave" 1 thousand rupees. And yet, at the airport, right in the lobby on a bench, she killed three cockroaches, as a result, they carried their bags to the middle of the hall, so as not to bring home stowaways, unwanted passengers. They value their duty-free alcohol at exorbitant prices of world brands, for example, they want $15 for a 300 ml liquor.
In general, I liked the rest, but now, honestly, I will say that I liked Thailand more for its simplicity, the absence of any surprises and pitfalls, everything was frankly simplified and did not bother me ... In principle, I would put a rest in the Dominican Republic before staying in Bali, there was also a complete feeling of paradise ... but all this is purely my opinion!
Maybe someone will find the review-report too boring and overly detailed, don’t blame me, just reading the reviews of others I am always grateful for the description of the little things, prices, personal opinions, it’s still better to learn from the mistakes of others and spread the straw in advance))). The trip was interesting, colorful and unforgettable, and I wish you the same! ! !

People call it differently: some call it paradise, others call it the abode of the gods, others call it the island of love. Everything there is mysticism and mystery, where legends are intertwined with reality, and it is impossible to understand where the fairy tale ends and life begins....I would like to tell you about the Melia Bali hotel. In June 2001, together with my husband, we spent our HONEYMOON in this hotel. As an employee of a travel agency, I approached the choice of a hotel very carefully and was not mistaken. I'll start with the flight Moscow - Denpasar - Moscow on a / k Transaero. The plane was loaded to capacity, but the twelve-hour flight from this a / c was a pleasant surprise thanks to the sympathetic flight attendants. Blankets, disposable slippers, a blindfold for sleep, two meals a day and DVD players brightened up all the hardships of the flight. We arrived at 10-40 local time, Balinese time. The first thing you notice when leaving the plane is the sweet smell of flowers, which is present absolutely everywhere, so much so that upon arrival home, all our things were saturated with it. . So, after going through passport control, we left the airport to look for our transfer. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw a sign with our names on it. We were met by the local Russian-speaking guide Putra. The transfer, like all subsequent excursions, turned out to be individual, only we, the driver and the guide. I must say that the guide we got was just wonderful! While walking to the car, they put on beads of flowers, whose fragrance, I repeat, is everywhere. In the car, while getting to the hotel, the guide offered bottled water to everyone, and gave a short sightseeing tour of the island. Upon arrival at MELIA, I was very impressed with the architectural solution of the reception area - the lobby - harmoniously combined with the garden. In Bali, in general, I was fascinated by the special openness of architecture, when nature is perceived as the basis, and the buildings seem to fit into the landscape! Local authorities have officially passed a law that the buildings on the island should not be taller than a coconut palm. This is due to the religious beliefs of the local population. . It is believed that the space from the ground to the top of the palms is reserved for people's lives, and the gods live above... Religious ceremonies of the Balinese are aimed at glorifying the gods, asking for support from the spirits of ancestors and appeasing evil spirits. Gods and demons are equally revered here, as evidenced by their daily offerings (canang sari), the production of which is painstaking work. Chanang saris are small baskets woven from palm leaves, where they put flowers, rice, pieces of food, coins. They are left for ancestors in home temples, for demons at the threshold of a door or at a dangerous street intersection. …. In the lobby, we were offered to sit on sofas, brought a refreshing local orange drink and we waited for the guide to return. He, at this time, having taken our passports, went to register us. And we went to wander around the hotel, never ceasing to admire. An hour later, we had 2 electronic keys, 2 cards for beach towels, as well as an envelope with a description of excursions and all kinds of discount coupons. We saw our suitcases in the room. In general, from the moment we received our luggage at the airport, we were not allowed to touch them. We got an ideally located room in building 3 on the second floor. Everything is nearby, but at the same time there is no hype of the pool as in 4, and the crush of the reception as in 2. Bananas grew in front of the windows, with almost ripe bananas. In the morning, squirrels came running to the balcony. If they were not fed, they themselves stole the cookies specially left for them. The room itself is not big, but quite comfortable and clean. There was a pot of orchids on the table. There are a lot of them in MELIA, and according to Putra in Bali, orchids grow only in the houses of "expensive" houses. We took DE LUXE. Great for a couple. The rooms had everything you need: 7 towels for two, 2 bathrobes, slippers, mini-bar, plasma, large TV, individually controlled air conditioning, dehumidifier, tea / coffee set, safe, shower gel, lotion. / body, shampoo, hair conditioner, toothbrushes with paste (new ones were posted every day), threads with a needle, shower caps and a hairdryer, and even cotton pads and sticks... The only thing was that they asked for an iron and ironing board by phone, they brought them to us within 10 minutes and not taken away until the end of the holiday. The staff is friendly and welcoming, always ready to help. The rooms were cleaned 2 times a day, they took out the trash, changed towels and sheets every day. We never saw any cleaners. In the morning, returning from breakfast, we always had 2 bottles of drinking water. On the day of arrival in the evening they brought us a present from the hotel - pineapple boats and a sweet cake in the shape of a heart - a gift for the newlyweds. But there was another surprise that we accidentally saw when we looked down from our second floor to the first - a wish for a happy honeymoon for us was written in a beautiful pattern on the sand. My delight knew no bounds. So, we went to explore the territory. The hotel is very calm, not crowded, you rarely see anyone on the floor during the day and in the evening. Everywhere is finished with expensive woods, soft lighting. It is located in a stunning, fabulously beautiful garden with flowers and tropical trees, ponds with fish, a huge pool of an unusual intricate layout with carved stone bridges, with white fragrant plumeria flowers falling around, bordered by the lush greenery of palm trees, taking you to a world of serene tranquility and relaxation. On the territory there is where to walk, there is even a track for running. There is a free fitness club, an excellent spa with excellent programs. There are many restaurants for every taste, there is an open restaurant near the beach overlooking the ocean, trees grow right there, along which chipmunks run. When ordering, the waiter brings a bowl of cookies and you can feed them from your hand. We mainly used the main restaurant, breakfasts were included, but it makes no sense to fly to Bali on an all-inclusive basis, outside the hotel you can eat very tasty and not expensive. For breakfast, the assortment of dishes did not change, but the variety was such that every day you could try something new. This is European, and Japanese, and Chinese breakfasts. A large selection of fruits, but the most delicious ones, such as rambutans and guava, are taken apart in the morning, and closer to 10 o’clock they are replaced with herring or tangerines. But every day at least 5-6 types of fruit. Food for every taste, prepared perfectly. A 5-minute walk was a magnificent shopping and entertainment complex BALI COLLECTION. There almost in all restaurants the menu is translated into Russian. Of all, we liked the Laguna restaurant the most, and we dined there all the time of our stay. They didn’t take meat often, they ate seafood. They also have amazing fresh juices, I would even say fruit purees, instead of juice. On the last day, the attendants arranged a farewell dinner for us, presented us with a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice, and all evening the musicians sang only for us... Separately, I would like to say about the beaches in Bali. The island of Bali is not surrounded by an inland sea, but by an ocean with its ebb and flow. . This natural phenomenon of nature is observed off the coast of the ocean in all the resorts of Bali, somewhere more, somewhere less. Twice a day the water rushes ashore and twice a day recedes. The tidal wave in the ocean is associated with gravity from the moon. At our hotel, the ebb and flow of the water was quite pronounced, on the one hand it became impossible to swim, but on the other hand, you can take a closer look at the ocean life. The water went down 200 meters. I was very curious! The beach has a schedule of ebb and flow, if you are active it is not critical, because you can see the island, but there is something to see! The tide schedule can be additionally viewed at http://www.island-wave.com/tideschart.html by starting to plan your vacation in advance. By clicking on the month you are interested in, you will see a table with the day of the month, the time of day from 6 am to 6 pm and a number characterizing the strength of the tide. Great sandy beach with fine golden sand. The beach strip is wide and long, there were enough sunbeds for everyone and always. Several staff members are responsible for the cleanliness of the beach, who clean it from algae and pieces of coral brought by the tide and maintain order during the day. You can continue for a long time, but, as they say, it's better to see once than hear a hundred times!! ! In conclusion, I want to say that I spent 2 unforgettable weeks in Melia Bali, and sincerely fell in love with this hotel. Have a nice rest and wonderful impressions!

But, despite the large number of rooms, the residents are almost invisible. There are always free sunbeds on the beach and by the pool. The staff is very friendly, many speak Russian. And in general, the local population in the resort areas tries to speak Russian, which is very nice. Now about the cons: 1. low tides - the first three or four days of our vacation it was possible to swim, the last days the water did not rise above the knees. It was possible to go a kilometer from the coast, but the result is the same. 2. The hotel has three swimming pools, one is used by residents of the first floor of the main building (exit from the room directly to the pool), the second is for those living in villas, the third is public. The pool is beautiful, with bridges and islands, but shallow. 3. food. Breakfast all 11 days of our stay is exactly the same. For those who do not accept Asian cuisine, there is nothing but scrambled eggs. Dinners at the hotel are very expensive. . There are many restaurants in Bali Collection (shopping center 5 minutes walk from the hotel), but prices are not much different from hotel prices. Very expensive alcohol, because the local population does not drink. 4. The rainy season. It rained every day, mostly at night, but even daytime rains did not interfere. Excursions. There were three: 1. a temple on a rock (the name cannot be reproduced) - beautiful landscapes, monkeys (you need to be very careful with them, take off everything that glitters, keep glasses, cameras on straps), unusual national dances, but they are not allowed into the temple itself . The guide is local, does not speak Russian well, tried to tell a lot, but it is difficult to understand. 2. a walk along the seabed - very unusual, we haven’t seen anything like this anywhere, I’m just delighted with the walk itself, but it’s short in time, and after the walk - lunch in some eatery, agar-agar is dried nearby, the smell is terrible and waiting for 1.5 hours. They're just taking our money. I don’t know the guide’s nationality, he speaks Russian very well, but he didn’t say anything, he didn’t even describe the excursion program. 3. an excursion to the central part of the island, with a visit to an ancient temple (very beautiful!!! ), a volcano (we walked on frozen lava), a very good lunch overlooking the volcano, a visit to a wooden products factory. Good excursion. The overall impression of the holiday is very, very good. If it were not for the principle - do not travel twice to the same country - we would gladly go again.

We arrived in Bali at night, we were met by a transfer and taken to the hotel. The hotel is simply gorgeous, do not listen to anyone who writes that everything is miserable there and stinks of plants, nothing stinks there. Eating at the hotel is EXPENSIVE!! ! The breakfasts are excellent, which was not there, the only problem is with fruits, pineapples are not tasty, tangerines too, but in general they are excellent. If you want to lie near the sea on sunbeds, you need to take from eight hours. And do not sunbathe in the first days in the sun - you will burn immediately. On the first day, we lay under sun loungers for about two hours and immediately tanned. Take more funds for burns, so as not to burn out, it's a little expensive there. As I already wrote, do not eat at the hotel, there are a lot of restaurants in Bali Collection, we went to the not very expensive Laguna. Immediately I say the portions are not the same as in Russia, a lot of spicy, but so tasty, it was about 160-180 thousand rupees (2 juices, soup, and the second). Do not change money at the airport, it’s not profitable, you can change it in Bali Collection . About souvenirs, it is better and cheaper to buy at a market near the hotel, bargain, they bend prices by about five times. We went on two excursions:
1. On a cliff (the impressions are amazing, only the monkeys are evil)
2. We went for the whole day (To the lakes, to the Tahan Lot, etc. - honestly, not really, I don’t advise).
Well, in general, we arrived with such impressions, if you decide to go, then only to this hotel. It justifies 5 *.
I wish you all good luck!! !
