This year I, as usual, vacationed with children and friends in Israel. We drove almost the whole country, the end of the holiday was in Eilat. This time we chose a hotel on the Coral Coast - the Princess Hotel.

Rest - rest, but you can not forget about work. Therefore, I decided to look into the new areas of Eilat. They are very different from the Eilat that I met in the early 90s when I stayed at the Edomit Hotel in the urban part of Eilat. My desire was caused by the fact that our company is sometimes approached by tourists who are interested in renting an apartment for a long time. There are not so many tourists who prefer the private sector to the hotel sector, but still there are. And if we consider the option with apartments, then only in new areas.

I was in areas located "behind" the LE MERIDIEN hotel - that is, behind the northern Eilat beach. I must say right away that the impressions are ambiguous.

I liked the areas of the villas, even very much. Green, cozy, inhabited.

Liked the villas themselves. I even managed to visit one of them through an acquaintance - photos are attached.

Tourists who have enough money to rent an entire villa are likely to be satisfied. Everything is clean and beautiful. Almost every villa in Eilat has a green courtyard, barbecue and even a small pool.

It would be nice, of course, to rent a car along with the villa. Why, you ask? Eilat is so small… Yes, small, but the fact is that the only disadvantage of living in a villa is the road to the sea. More precisely, back FROM the sea.

Let me explain what I'm talking about. The fact is that all residential areas of Eilat, including the discussed area of villas, are located on a hill. And although it takes only 10-20 minutes to walk to the sea (depending on where exactly the rented villa is located), you have to go back up the hill. Eilat is hot between April and November. Sometimes it's very hot! If in the summer - it is not uncommon and + 40-45 degrees.

There is little shadow there, almost none ...So, a 10-20 minute journey sometimes stretches for a very long time. And even athletic and trained people who love to walk get tired and exhausted very quickly. And on the 3-4th day of rest, a thought begins to creep into their head ...but is it worth going to the sea at all? Children especially quickly begin to be lazy - I know this from my own experience. And they master the pools very quickly - the only pity is that in the villas they are small and you can’t swim in them much.

In addition to villas, I also had a chance to see one of the new areas of Eilat - Aquarelle. It is located approximately at the same distance from the sea as the areas of the villas.

Well, what can I say? Yes, beautiful new houses, with large balconies and large apartments, but… this is a new building. The real new building. Still dusty, still undeveloped, almost without greenery - and this is under the scorching sun of Eilat!

There are fenced areas around which, in all likelihood, construction will continue, stones, sand and dust. And stunted tree seedlings - oh, they will not soon begin to give a blessed shade!

Driving past all those pretty but dusty and uninhabited houses around noon, I didn't meet a SINGLE person! Not on the street, not on the balcony, not even just in the window. And only a handful of suitcases stood lonely on the balcony of one of the apartments, right under the hot sun (video can be viewed on you-tube: http://youtu. be/hurW4hEj1rE)

I stopped a passerby I happened to meet - a local resident - and asked him where are the people? Who lives here? The answer was simple and disappointing - the Israelis themselves hardly live in this area, but buy apartments exclusively for commerce, that is, for renting out to tourists ...

My conclusion is this: renting an apartment in Eilat is extreme. And quite expensive  Of course, there are those who will like this business.

But personally, I would not rent an apartment here. And I wouldn't recommend it to my family and friends.

After a tour of the new buildings, I returned with pleasure to the comfortable Princess Hotel - to palm trees, flowers and greenery. I told about this hotel in my review with photos - here is the link http://www.turpravda.com/il/_ylat/Princess-h13754-r93048.html
