Before the trip, my wife and I were looking for an option where to stay for a long time, as there was a budget that we had to fit into. There were a lot of options, but we settled on Shelsta Holiday Resort, as we were pleased with the reviews of other tourists and photos. Various horror stories have been written about other hotels in the same price range.

In the end, we got exactly what we expected. Small room, giant double bed, large closet, desk and shower room with toilet and sink. There was a good layer of cobwebs under the table, but this is India, there were no other problems.

The hotel is run by a very friendly family. We took a safe from them, almost every day I ran to their house (the safe is there), they always helped without any problems. The safe cost either 100 or 150 rupees per day. Nothing was lost during this time, money and documents were kept there.

The hotel has a small but pleasant garden.

Shelsta Holiday Resort is located near the Baga-Calangute Road, there is no fence, but at night a guard sits right next to the road.

From the hotel to the sea with a lazy step to go about 10 minutes, as indicated in the description.

About food. We only had breakfast. They were exactly the same every day: coffee with or without milk / tea to choose from, 2 toasts, butter, jam, orange / pineapple juice. Enough to have breakfast, but every day will be the same, do not count on variety.

In our room, bed linen and towels were changed every two days, which was a pleasant surprise. Without asking, they just changed while we were not at home. Nothing was missing. And generally tried to solve our every problem. They wanted to drink tea in the evening, ordered boiling water to the room, brought it in 20 minutes, left the kettle for us at night, gave it back in the morning.

From living creatures - there was a curious case when a lizard ran to us. Three times, the same, small.
They came to look at the room for a lizard every time at our request, but she ran away twice in an unknown direction, the third time she was caught, raked out of the room with a broom, she didn’t bother us anymore.

Pros: quite clean, they clean, they change linen, next to the sea, plumbing is working (although hot water is sometimes stupid), they respond quickly to requests, pleasant hotel territory.

Cons: next to the hotel there is a bar, where every evening the music was pecking until 1 am, but then everything calmed down, monotonous breakfasts.

In general, the hotel is perfect for unpretentious tourists who want to save a little on the hotel in order to spend money on excursions, clothes, food and other delights of India. For this price you will hardly find something better. We liked.
