Good day to all!

Rested with his wife in Sri Lanka from February 7 to 17 at The Surf Hotel in Bentota. We were quite satisfied with the hotel. The service is good, quite corresponding to the level of the hotel. Of the minuses, I can name only one: the lack of Wi-Fi (Internet is available in the lobby via cable, but there are only two slots, that is, only 2 guests can be on the Internet at the same time, which is not always enough). But this is a vacation, so you shouldn’t be especially upset about this.

The beach is good and clean. The sand is great too. The ocean is warm, so swimming is a joy. In addition, a pleasant surprise was the presence of chipmunks (squirrels), which are literally tame (they eat directly from the hands and are not afraid to come very close). These chipmunks live in trees. In addition to chipmunks, there are also monitor lizards on the territory (some more than 1 meter in length), which, in principle, are completely harmless if left untouched.

Most monitor lizards crawl on the ground, so if you want almost complete safety from the surrounding wildlife, ask for a room on the second floor. And then on the balcony of your room the only guests (except yourself, mosquitoes and midges) will be chipmunksJ

Of the food, we only included breakfast, which did not differ in a variety of dishes. For lunch and dinner, we went to local restaurants, which we were very pleased with. The food there is relatively cheap and very tasty.

Of the excursions offered by the meeting party, we did not choose more than one. Considering that the most interesting excursions require at least 5 hours in a bus one way, we decided that we would go on distant excursions next time. In addition, the traffic on the roads is just crazy.
We met a local tuk-tuk (by the name Thushara), who took us to Galle to see the fort, Unawatuna (one of the top 12 most beautiful beaches in the world), a turtle farm, a moonstone mine and other interesting places. In addition, he also took us on a tour of the Bentota River, which was also very exciting and colorful (mangroves, crocodiles, monitor lizards, birds and fish). With him, we walked along the coast at night looking for turtle eggs (to collect and hand them over to a farm where they are grown and released back into the sea on the 3rd day after birth), but luck did not smile at us. We really liked Thushara as it's not intrusive like the others and it's cheaper than others. (his contacts +940779025747) we were told that you can call the hotel reception for free, but we did not check. ))))

Summing up, I can say with confidence that after -30 at home, Sri Lanka seemed to us really a paradise. The motto of the country - A Land Like No Other - fully justifies itself.
We understood one thing, that you can safely ride a savage - it will be much cheaper and no worse. You can love Sri Lanka, or you can hate it - but you should definitely visit it J We advise everyone!
