While relaxing in Sri Lanka, I was sure that I would write my first review on the sites. But everything is forgotten upon arrival home.
I am sincerely glad that now I will fulfill my desire and rehabilitate this wonderful island.
I agree with fill's review that going to Sri Lanka for a beach holiday is stupid. Then it’s better to endure another hour of flight and lie on a sunbed in the Maldives.
To understand, love and burn with the desire to return again and again to this country - you need to travel around it, get to know it. Outings from the hotel will not give you an idea of the country at all. I’ll clarify right away on the roads - yes, a distance of 100 km in Sri Lanka will have to be overcome in 2.5 - 3 hours, but only because the roads are narrow, one lane in each direction, and not because the roads are bad, as they say in reviews. The quality of the roads is excellent, many roads are just about restored after the war. Our Kiev would have such roads....eh.
We immediately took an excursion program in Kyiv for 7 days - starting from Anuradhapura - with a stop in Nuwara Eliya - along the golden triangle and ending with a rest on the ocean.
Every day the island was different - somewhere arid, somewhere immersed in the tropics; somewhere with a population that behaves impudently, somewhere with a population that only looks at you touchingly from a distance; but every day was fascinating and filled with nature.
As for the Taj Exotic hotel. We are largely to blame here. It was our tourists who taught them to be like that - shoot cigarettes, sell them in a bar from under the counter. But these are trifles. The hotel is surrounded by greenery, a large area, a lot of mongooses and chipmunks, a fairly large pool. The food is quite varied, fresh, fruits are sweet, cakes are delicious. By numbers I recommend ordering Orchids. I accidentally read on a Russian site that there are such numbers. The price for them differs very little, but all the Orchids rooms are located on the last and penultimate floors. They don't smell like damp. Service and room is better. Decent hotel for the island.
