We were in EDENe from March 7th to 12th with a group of 6 people. Everything is written correctly about the hotel and its condition below - the repair was long ago, the air conditioner is noisy. The furniture is old. But bedding, towels - everything is normal - snow-white, cleaning every day, for 100 rupees (and even without them) they will clean it cleanly and with flowers or elephants from towels. The staff is smiling and friendly (probably the Russian-Ukrainians have not yet spoiled them ... ). Our 20 percent of all vacationers there. Many "pensioners" from Germany, Holland, and all sorts of other things. They, basically, wallow on sunbeds all day long, few people swim in the ocean, there are always waves and very heavy, compared to the sea ones.

No one imposes their services, with the exception of the seller of tickets for bichpati, very annoying. Bichpati is so-so, the music is almost modern, you can fool around a fire on the ocean shore with loud music once.

We did not like the local drink, except for their beer - LION LAGER - normal and even better than some of our varieties. The price in local shops is 160 rupees for 0.63 liters (weird size). In the Hotel Restaurant - 420! ! In general, everything is expensive in a restaurant for money ...Wine starts at 3.800 rupees (the rate was 120 for 1 dollar). The territory is cleaned, everything is clean, green. All in all, it's okay. If you go with an emphasis on the hotel, then of course it’s weak, the maximum 3 is Egyptian or Turkish, but there is a gym, there is billiards, there is squash, there is massage ...We all liked the food in the restaurant, nothing special, but not poor. For different tastes, but spicy. Grill meals every day. There were evenings of Italian and Thai cuisine. Thai - terribly spicy! Crabs, fish, meat, all peppered to the point of horror. Fruit local - all the time. We do not recommend taking vouchers with lunch, we went for lunch - to the right of the ocean exit there is a 2nd cafe for 4 tables. A plate of shrimps of 10-12 pieces (grilled tiger, sauce) with french fries and salad 790 rupees.
Just take beer, wine, in general - what you will drink with you. They don’t have alcohol and they don’t have anything against what they bring! There is also fish, soups, and other food, but we ate shrimp for lunch. They took very large - 3 pcs. per portion - 900 rupees. Lobsters or lobsters are expensive, from $30 per serving. There are 2 more cafes, but we limited ourselves to this - the best prices! Who needs to turn around - we recommend the AYESHA restaurant (we called him Alyosha), it is on the road - exit from the central gate to the left to the road, then to the right, and about 100 meters from the hotel. Or you can take a boat, when local beachboys ride along the river, they bring you straight from the river (there is a pier). Everything is more fashionable, cleaned and clean, but also 1.5 times more expensive (there are various alcohol).

As for the guide's story from the host travel agency, that do not mess with the locals - they will deceive you, they will throw you and so on - complete nonsense!

Immediately upon arrival at the exit from the hotel to the ocean, we were "caught" by a local beach boy named MANU (there is a photo in my attachments). He speaks broken Russian, but you can understand (they speak English in a strange way). We traveled all over the area with him. We were in Kandy, and looked at elephants, and looked at turtles, and a lighthouse, and an excursion along the river instead of 2.5 hours - all 4, and to an island that is nearby, when we wanted, and shopping ...Everything was great, and with discounts from suggested tours by a local tour operator. He didn’t refuse anything, he bought fruit, beer for us, he drove it wherever we say. In general - well done! He only lied about one thing - it takes 4 hours to go to Kandy, not 2.5 ...(but here - his trick, I would not agree to 4 hours, and on the other hand - a Toyota minibus for 10 seats with air conditioning, and we are only six of us). In general, I recommend MANU! (there are 5 other beachboys, I don’t know how they divide tourists. New visitors are constantly looking out. )
In my opinion, if you come there together and don’t create a company with anyone, it will be boring and all the negativity of the hotel will spoil the impression, but with the company - everything is “very nice”! ...Still, local nature gives positive emotions! Have a nice holiday!

(By the way, who needs wine and strong liquor in Sri Lanka's DutiFree upon arrival, the prices are good).
