We rested in Sri Lanka from March 1-11. We got to the Palms hotel by accident, as we bought a tour to the Tangerine 4 * HB hotel (Kalutara), but upon arrival we were offered to see this hotel with the ALL system at no extra charge. I'm looking ahead to say that we definitely did not lose.
So, in order. We flew from Kyiv by low-cost Air Arabia via Sharjah. I remain of the opinion that for such money you can fly on anything, especially on quite decent Airbuses. On the plane, they feed fast food for money (you can look at airarabia. com). In Sharjah, they could not land for 40 minutes due to thunderstorms and rain, and then take off from Sharjah for another 1.5 hours - this despite the fact that rain in the UAE is quite a rare phenomenon. Back was even more fun, as the flight from Colombo was delayed by 12 hours due to thick fog in Sharjah, which blocked the airport. I would like to note that the airport in Colombo compares favorably with Boryspil, at least with racks with computers and free Internet.
The hotel itself, in my opinion, is fully consistent with the 4 * category. Rooms are spacious enough, all with ocean views. The furniture is not new, but still alive, there were no problems with plumbing. Food - 10 points!! ! During the 11 days of rest, I don’t remember that I tried chicken, because all the time there were some meat delicacies, such as pork baked pork with pineapples, as well as very tasty fish. In addition to fish, seafood also had huge crabs and shrimp. A lot of fruit (all listed in the previous review of this hotel).

The animation mainly consisted of an evening performance of live musicians with a standard European repertoire with a British twist. It should be noted that the vocalist impressed my wife and I with his performance of George Michael and James Blunt, which could well pass for a concert performance in the original.
The contingent of the hotel is 40% very elderly British, 20% elderly Germans, the rest are Poles, Italians, French of middle age. There were 4 people from Russian-speaking vacationers in the hotel. The hotel staff does not speak Russian, but everyone knows English, since this is the second state language.
The ocean is the strongest impression of the country - very warm and powerful. It is near this hotel that there is a natural pool where you can swim without waves. People vacationing in Kalutara, with whom we went on excursions, complained that they could not go into the ocean for several days because of the waves. My wife and I constantly swam in the ocean, but in order to enter you need to overcome at least a meter wave of surf, which can be problematic for older people. Snorkeling in this part of the coast is not possible due to the waves.
The beach is good. Sun loungers are located on the territory of the hotel under coconut palms. Chipmunks run around the hotel, eating from the hand and monitor lizards
Excursions. We went on a day trip to Kandy - in general, we liked it. We also went on a tour of Halle.
The second time they would return to Sri Lanka for the sake of the ocean. I recommend Beruvella for a relaxing beach holiday. The only thing that stops you from frequent trips to Sri Lanka is a long flight, which in fact takes 2 days.
