I read a lot of reviews here before going, so I decided to write my own. I will try without personal emotions, only facts.
ROAD. Flying with flydubai. We took off from Kyiv 20 minutes later. In Dubai, both there and back, they boarded the plane on time, but waited 1.5 hours on the plane. We departed from Colombo about 30 minutes later. On planes, you can buy some kind of food (chips, drinks, something like shawarma), but we took it with us. On the way back, we ordered breakfast at the hotel (because we were late for breakfast upon arrival). We arrived in Colombo a little later, so we caught rush hour on the roads: it took 4 hours to get to the hotel.
HOTEL. The hotel is normal, but without frills, the territory is large and green. A lot of squirrels run around, sometimes small monitor lizards come. Cleaning and linen change every day. There are few young people, entertainment too. In the evenings, like live music starts at about 9-10 o'clock (a lot of Russian songs are sung, because the listeners are mostly ours).

FOOD. We only had breakfast which was good. Breakfasts, as others wrote, are always the same: a lot of spicy, no meat and rice, fried sausages and omelettes were in special demand. We went for dinner once: you pay 2000 rupees and everything is yours (there is meat, but spicy). Free tea, coffee and juices. All the time we ate at the SunFlower beach restaurant - it is the first to the left of the exit from the hotel to the ocean. The food there is delicious and the portions are generous. We tried all seafood (lobsters, lobsters, shrimp, octopus, cuttlefish, shark, tuna, etc. ). I recommend onion soup and vermicelli or shrimp rice. Washed down with local rum (red Calypso) and Lion beer. There were four of us, some portions were taken for two, but not for the purpose of saving - they are really large, with seafood they always serve some fries and a salad of cabbage, carrots and pineapples. The average check for four with a drink is 6.000 rupees (we changed the currency at the airport at the rate of 124 rupees for 1 dollar). Once we decided to change the restaurant, walked further along the coast - the Fresh restaurant. The territory is prettier, but not so tasty and more expensive.
BEACH. The beach is right outside the hotel. You go out - and in two directions a sandy beach. There are few people. Swimming in the usual sense in the ocean is not convenient, but it's fun to hang out on the waves. This contributes to the small depth. The waves were small all the time. A little to the right of the hotel there is a type of lagoon, separated by a coral reef, it is deep and you can swim there, there are practically no waves. The sun is dangerous, be careful.
OTHER. On the beach to the left of the exit, beach-boys are sitting in the shade, who immediately come up and offer services. There are annoying ones, but they need to say "later" or "tomorrow" and they will fall behind. We then ourselves approached one and continued to work with him. His name is Martin, he is the oldest there, so small, thin with long hair. Not clingy. He took us to the city in a tuk-tuk (200 rupees round trip for two) for fruit, showed us the Buddha temple, brought us to the spice garden and a tea shop. He knows a lot, tells, more or less in Russian. Then we gave him money and he brought us rum and Arrak local coconut vodka (it’s better, because for tourists prices in stores are called more expensive). He brought coconuts to drink for free. They gave him a couple of packs of cigarettes. He also took us on an excursion to Kandy. Minibus Toyota for 10 seats with air conditioning. There were only four of us, we paid $30 per person for the road. He offered his services as a guide for $15, but we gave 2000 rupees (i. e. 4 bucks each). We left at 5 am, arrived at 8 pm. There is a more or less standard program, but if we didn’t want to go somewhere, we didn’t go. There are 2 options for elephants: a nursery, where you can only watch and take pictures, and riding with swimming. Both options cost $20 per person separately. We chose skiing. Then we drove up to the nursery, when the herd was driven to the river, and there they still took pictures for free. Check in at the tea factory - cool and they bought tea cheaply. Check-in to the botanical garden - entrance 1100 rupees per person, interesting. Check-in at the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy - entrance to the territory is free (clothing restrictions - so that knees and shoulders are covered, our friends are not allowed in short shorts), and the temple itself is paid, but we did not enter, took pictures around.
OUTPUT. All liked it. I advise.
