One more review. Now about the Dickwella Resort and SPA, Sri Lanka. Rested with my husband from 05.03. 09-15.03. 09.

I want to say right away that the impression is VERY ambiguous. The location of the hotel is simply fantastic. Whether it's better, I don't know. Part of the hotel (restaurant and swimming pool) is on the rocks, everything else is on the sandy beach. From any room to the ocean 5 minutes maximum. The hotel is surrounded by lagoons. In the left - the bottom is better, in the right is rocky (only the entrance), but the wave is smaller there. There is a beautiful coral in the left lagoon, but we did not swim, because there was a big wave. On the right - a little snorkeling, there is something to see, but rather insidious currents: it seems that there are no waves, but it drags you into the ocean. There is enough of any living creatures on the shore. There are a lot of crabs on the stones, "hermits" rush along the beach. All sorts of small fish swarm in the puddles between the stones. If you go along the left lagoon towards the city, then you can find a lot of all living creatures.

All buildings are bungalow type and with ocean views. The room is spacious enough.
The room has air conditioning, a fan, a fumigator, a TV, a hairdryer, a kettle, all personal belongings for tea drinking, a minibar. The bed is large and comfortable with a canopy. On the terrace overlooking the ocean table and chairs. Every day the bed was strewn with flowers, and, please note, absolutely free. Well, now the nasty things. Hot water in our room is not connected to the bidet or washbasin. Towels are changed every day. Everything is wonderful, only they are all stained and can even be caught with holes. Went to reception. I quarreled. They brought others. A little better than the previous ones. Judging by the fact that my arrival at the reception did not cause any special emotions among the staff, I understand that this is considered normal for them. Farther. As I wrote above, the bed was covered with flowers every day. Beautiful, pleasant, BUT it would be better if the bed linen was perfectly clean ...No, it was washed, ironed, but with stains (no holes were noticed).
Another cool thing is the sewerage of the second floor in the mezzanine above the TV. It doesn’t interfere at all if you don’t climb there, and since the electricity in our room was regularly turned off, we had to climb. Aromatherapy, in short. Don't be alarmed about the electricity, it was twitching for a couple of days, but more often I knocked out the plugs with my hair dryer. They removed it like that.

Territory. Not very big, but very well maintained and comfortable. Gazebos and hammocks are at your disposal. Lots of chipmunks. Wonderful little animals, but terribly intimidated by local crows. To say that these creatures are greyhounds there is to say nothing. The area is cleaned and cleaned very well. There is a spa. I did not use the services, but the prices are astronomical.

Nutrition. We had HB. The restaurant is big. Breakfast on the terrace above the rocks overlooking the ocean. The beauty! But the breakfast itself is not great. You won’t die of hunger, but the monotony just killed.
Dinner is a completely different matter.
Or on the large terrace of the restaurant, or near the pool. Every time you dine at a new table, as the staff places signs with room numbers. Dinners are plentiful, tasty and varied. During our stay there were Chinese, and Italian, and international, and local.
And I'll write nasty things about food. Everything is very beautiful. The waiters are efficient and helpful. Each table has a candle, but the candlestick can be broken. The tablecloth is covered, but it may be with holes.

Swimming pool. Large and deep (up to 1.90m). Ocean water. It's just wonderful to swim there until 13.00. Then the sun hits directly. Sunbeds and towels free of charge. There are few umbrellas, but there are awnings. There is a jacuzzi, but they include it on request. Dirty awful. Although it works well. And I'll write rubbish here. I had suspicions that towels are not washed, but simply folded at the end of the day. Neighbors confirmed this fact.
True, for the last 3-4 days, someone probably made a scandal, they began to give towels in person and their appearance and smell pleased.

Beach. Wide long sandy and ...deserted. Sunbeds on site, but the people pulled out to the beach.

I can not say unequivocally that it is not worth going to this hotel. And given that I heard from many, including trustworthy professionals, that the hotel is one of the best, I think the main thing is not to dwell on the shortcomings. I attribute all this to the southern mentality (because the owner is Italian). By the way, the owner flickers in the hotel all day and during dinner comes to each table.

Yes, the nearest grocery store is quite far. By tuk-tuk round-trip with a wait under the store for 200 rupees (less than $2).

P. S. Without a minimum knowledge of English, it will be very difficult. The staff communicates in English, Sinhalese and Italian
