We rested in December 2013. Probably because we were set up in advance for much worse conditions (judging by the reviews we read) --- WERE PLEASANTLY AMAZED! . The staff is pleasant and smiling (and not sassy). At the reception - lovely girls in Sarah. The rooms are small and bright. The bed is fresh snow-white, the pillows are weightless and soft. Natural wood furniture. Everything is freshly painted and clean. Every day 2 bottles of water, coffee, tea, cream are brought to the room. There is a small refrigerator. We did not find Russian TV on TV, but it was very fun to "translate" local films according to the facial expressions of the actors)))) There was air conditioning, but we did not check it. We slept with an open balcony under the roar of the ocean. We were pleased that we did not see mosquitoes there !!!
We did not expect to hang around in the room, but fell in love with our balcony! It is a great pleasure to have fun there with fruits, (which cost a penny there), coffee, sweets and look at the endlessly noisy ocean. All the balconies that we saw were overlooking the ocean.
The food is normal. Not super abundance, but just enough. I liked the dinners, and it’s good that I didn’t have to wander along the coast in search of dinner.

In general, if you are not expecting something luxurious, then the hotel is very good. On a solid four!
Location::: the hotel is 5 minutes from the fish and fruit market. A stone's throw from a coral reef and a children's beach without waves and stones (although all the local kids and their parents swim there. But they are very cute and do not approach tourists in the water. ). 7 minutes walk from the most beautiful Buddhist temple, which is worth seeing. Siri showed it to us for 500 rupees and led us through the local village in the jungle, which begins immediately after the railway. So, ask Siri and he will help you immerse yourself in local life and organize inexpensive excursions. For example, for 2000 rupees per person, he organizes a trip to Laguna, which is very cool)
I was also struck by the climate in Sri Lanka! It seemed to me that it was not so comfortable anywhere. At night, the ocean breathes warmth, not cold in one dress. And during the day it is not very hot due to the breeze from the sea. And no mosquitoes
What soared was the sellers on the beach! Probably not worth just out of curiosity to ask "how much? " this is a pareo or, for example, a wooden elephant --- otherwise they won’t get off you until you buy this thing. And they will wait until you get out of the water, and on the second day they will again take you by storm until you buy something.
Yes, still bring sweets from home (at least simple ones, the main thing is more). Everywhere, on excursions (especially in the depths of the island) and at sea, you will meet local kids . .
Although, this is my subjective opinion, everyone sees the world differently.
