For our honeymoon, our choice fell on Sri Lanka, where we stayed for about 18 days. The first five days were devoted to excursions around the country (a separate review will be left for each hotel), but the remaining 11 were on the Indian Ocean coast at the Kalutara resort at the Royal Palms hotel. In preparation for the trip, I reviewed a huge number of reviews on the Internet about resorts and hotels. There was another hotel next to our hotel, but 4 stars. We didn’t have a fence between the hotels and, as we were told, there was one owner, but I can say that the difference was very significant, since our hotel was more well-groomed and inside the lobby is much more beautiful. The only advantage of the neighboring hotel was a huge number of chipmunks, which we fed after a hearty breakfast. But I'll start in order. We booked a room for honeymooners and on our arrival it was very beautifully decorated with balloons. Upon arrival at the hotel we were very well received. I must say that the staff is very friendly. The room was on the third floor overlooking the pool, but through the palm trees you could see the ocean. I recommend everyone to specify what kind of room, as in the right wing there are rooms overlooking the railway and the cemetery. I ask you not to be afraid of the cemetery when you left the hotel, it was not visible, and the food did not interfere. The territory of the hotel is well-groomed, there are two swimming pools. The beach at the exit from our hotel was well-groomed, but as soon as we walked 500 meters to the left or right, it immediately became clear that the beach was not private, but municipal. There was incendiary animation, my husband and I especially liked the water aerobics. We took three meals a day and that was enough for us, as the food was very varied. Live music played during lunch and in the evening, so it was especially pleasant to dine outdoors in the evening. Leaving the hotel, we were immediately surrounded by taxi drivers in their tuk-tuks, but I recommend going further and on the main road you can catch a taxi driver for a lower price. The average price of a trip is 200-300 Sri Lankan rupees. But I warn you that you need to agree on the price of the trip in advance, because then they break the unrealistic price and make a fuss. The only thing we were a little upset about was the choice of souvenirs, since beautiful magnets were found only in one place, and there was only one option for plates. I strongly recommend bargaining when choosing souvenirs and you can bring down the price by almost half. If you go to the beach and go to the left, you can find a restaurant (I don’t remember the name, but there are flags of various countries on poles) where we drank insanely delicious fresh mango juice and ate crabs. There are also massage services, but we did not go, but heard the reviews of the hotel guests. I also want to warn you to be careful with the local people who offer excursion services and transport. Bargain about the price of excursions and bring down the price by half. As for transport, we flew a little with this, since we did not go on vacation through a travel agency and, accordingly, the transfer was not organized. Therefore, the day before departure, we agreed with the locals that they should pick us up from the hotel, and we left at 11 pm and take us to the airport. But on the day of departure, a heavy downpour began in the afternoon and our driver called us and said that the price of the trip was changing and increasing by forty percent. We were horrified as it was already evening and it was problematic to find other transport. It was very disappointing that they decided to cheat us, but we were not at a loss and in the lobby met the guys who also left for the airport on the bus ordered by the agency, so we agreed with their driver and, in front of the driver who deceived us, left for the airport and paid for transport at two times cheaper.
