I just arrived - I will share my fresh impressions.

We were left to the mercy of fate and they never asked us, given that we do not know languages, and the hotel staff does not speak Russian. The hotel did not inform anything at the reception. Therefore, even on the road, ask the tour operator for his phone number and when and how they will pick you up.
Secondly, the road is very long to the hotel - 5 hours. It is not so much long - 130 km. , How much slow. At first, this right-hand traffic was shocking, I constantly thought that now we would crash into someone. But relax, the locals give way and have not seen a single accident all the time. Advice: change money at the airport and immediately drop the driver onto the autobahn on the bus (it is paid). It is quite inexpensive, somewhere around 2-3 dollars per person, but you can get to the hotel in 1.5 hours. on an excellent road, and you will not shake for 5 hours.
Thirdly, the hotel is of course 2 *, we met Muscovites, so when buying a ticket they were told the category was 2 *, and in Ukraine they say 3 *. Settled in a terrible room (826) without an ocean view. If they took a shower above us, the water flowed in a stream to our souls, the toilet lid was torn off, the bed was concrete. Darkness and horror. We spent the night, and in the morning we agreed at the reception, paid 10 dollars. and we were put in a bungalow. there you could rest.
Fourth, swimming in the ocean is difficult. All the time there are waves and a very strong reverse rollback of water, knocking you down. Therefore, we walked along the shore behind the hotel to the left - walk quite a bit, there are large reefs and stones, they hold back the wave, it turns out a lagoon and you can safely swim.
Fifthly, the food is specific, sometimes so spicy that it seems that the fire has swallowed it. take some and try. Breakfasts are monotonous, dinners are more interesting.
Sixthly, there is no animation, there will be no entertainment, as in Turkey and Egypt. One consolation, a lot of Russians and Ukrainians. Get to know each other right away and try to entertain yourself all together and go on excursions in a group - it's cheaper that way.

We asked to boil and bring shrimp. Brought it to the bungalow - amazingly delicious cooked. We went with him to Kandy, to Manara (there is the largest Buddha-39m), in Galle. Everywhere he fulfilled our requests very well - to a cheap fruit shop. to the pharmacy, etc. He still does not know the language very well, but he can understand. Through him it was possible to communicate with the local population. Once we went on an excursion along the Koggala River with another local (introduced as Sasha). So everyone cursed. He does not speak Russian, but he takes good money and did not complete the entire program. They visited 3 islands with him, and who traveled from Chamindo-7 islands.
