This is my first vacation in Sri Lanka, before that I was in many countries, including neighboring GOA, so there is something to compare with.

Transfer: the flight turned out to be very difficult for 12 hours, flew from Kyiv, a direct flight with a gas station in the United Arab Emirates. I do not advise the company "rose of the winds", especially what they arranged for us on the way back in Donetsk, dear mother. But if there is no choice, then what to do, you have to fly.
The transfer from the airport to a specific hotel turned out to be fortunately the shortest of all those sitting on the bus, we got off first, after 2-3 hours. When returning from an excursion, it is similar, which at least somehow pleased me.


Hotel: As previously written here, it consists of a complex, 3 hotels, 3.3+, 4 stars, this hotel is allegedly 3 stars. I will say that these stars are quite justified. The rooms are spacious, the food suits me completely. You could go to eat in a 4-star hotel, there is a slightly more varied food, but that's not the point.
Locality: The beach and nature are of course wonderful, for this it is worth going there. Hotels line the coastline. Compared to GOA (in which the coastline is dotted with cafes), there is no such thing here. Therefore, it is worth taking breakfast and dinner in order to relax without a headache.

Locals here earn differently than in GOA (mainly in cafes), local young people immediately offer excursions to tourists.

Before the trip, I read, of course, your reviews, such as they promise and do not fulfill, respectively, I was overly biased towards such proposals. Of course, there may be some truth in this, but I obviously got lucky with this.

From the first days, one of these local guides came into my confidence. He simply offered to drink coconut, not obtrusively talking about excursions. At first, I did not plan to order anything from him.
But after he took me to the nearest places for shopping, took me to the lake, treated me with cocoa and not only ... ; ) and for his time he didn’t even want to take money, I paid the tuk-tuk driver a mere penny. 150-300 rupees, while without my escort the price they called of course more.

So after that, I left my doubts and went with Denis (as he called himself, so that it would be easier for us) on an excursion to Colombo. Which included: a park, spices, elephant riding, an elephant sanctuary, an optional waterfall, etc. etc. For everything, I threw him 70 c. u. e.
I learned this even less than if I had gone from the operator, while there you have to pay even additional expenses, such as tickets.
Immediately I gave the money and the guy decided everything for me, I just enjoyed the tour and did not spend anything else.
What else I liked about this kind of excursion, since there were only 6 of us, we managed our emotions as we like, we want to watch something more time, we want less.
Usually, on excursions with an operator with a group of 15-30 people, you have to run in a hurry, you really don’t have time to take a picture.

These are my impressions of local excursions, maybe I was lucky, so just in case I will leave the coordinates of this guy, not for the sake of advertising, since, of course, I am not an interested person, but in order to help my compatriots.
In addition, with the full data of this person, which you can leave at the hotel, in case of force majeure, you can feel much more comfortable. I spent the address personally, was visiting him, treated himself to seafood. )
