Chewed at this hotel after an intensive tour of the island as part of the tour "Sri Lanka to visit the elephants. " In addition to observing elephants and photo safari in three national parks of Sri Lanka (Minneriya, Uda Walawe, Yala), we were offered a rather intensive and interesting regional program: Sigiriya, Dambula, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Tissamaharama, Galle and a four-day vacation on the coast in hotel Haridra Resort & SPA (Wadduwa) before departure. Haridra was the 7th hotel we stayed at so there was nothing to compare.
The rooms we had were two stories high with a huge bathroom and nothing extra. There is a terrace on the first floor and a balcony on the second. Good view of the ocean and coastal palm trees. Two air conditioners (on each floor) which, in my opinion, were a pleasant escape from the tropical heat and humidity. In the rooms of my colleagues on the balconies there were small jacuzzi pools, which we willingly used in the evenings with a glass of red Sri Lankan rum. Cleaning was done daily, the cleanliness of the room was maintained, but the towels were neatly hung after cleaning, but were not changed regularly. Breakfast is standard, dinner is tolerable, I wanted to try local cuisine, but the spiciness of the dishes is unbearable, despite the fact that most of the guests are Europeans and our Ukraine, Russia. A remark was made about this in the kitchen, but there was no great enthusiasm to reduce the amount of chili pepper in national dishes. So, it was not possible to taste Sri Lankan cuisine and understand how vegetable curry differs from fish curry. Yes, another secret for me. In the kitchen, apparently based on tradition, they cut chicken and pork with some kind of cleaver or hatchet, which makes the pieces small, and the bones are severely crushed, so you had to eat carefully, every now and then, spitting out small fragments of bones.
The staff is friendly, fluent in English and with their smiles brings a positive atmosphere to the hotel. The main advantage of the hotel is its quiet environment, a moderate number of guests, no crowds, no queues at the buffet.

The beach is clean and picturesque.
The main disadvantages of the hotel are problems with the Internet: the speed is low, it is not available in the rooms at all. Although you can connect your tablet to the TV in the room and watch whatever you want. The TV works intermittently, nothing Russian-speaking. In the evening the hotel is quiet but boring, there is no my favorite evening entertainment - a pool table. The lobby bar is expensive and therefore deserted.
Despite the shortcomings, the hotel coped with its task, provided the traveler with comfort, peace and relaxation. But you can entertain yourself outside the hotel - the island is simply “full” of beauties and wonders.
