The first thing that surprised me when I arrived in the country was the high humidity and the very large number of locals, because the area of the country is approximately similar to the Kharkiv region with a population of 20 million!
PEOPLE: very friendly, there were a couple of cases that wanted to fool around a bit, but you have to have your head on your shoulders. Most locals think that all white people are very rich - apparently, the locals have such a desire. When children see the locals go crazy, I advise you to grab some candy-lollipops - you will give people happiness! 80% of people greet and say something : )
HOTEL: the area is gorgeous, like a botanical garden. The facade is a bit shabby - not restored after the tsunami. The room is very large, cool furniture, wooden. The repair is a bit lame. Be prepared that towels can be stained and with holes. But we were not bothered at all, because the towels were clean.
STAFF: polite, almost everyone knows English!

We drove around the hotel and waved small handles after us!
OCEAN: all the time raging, it feels like the ocean, the tides are not noticed, from the hotel to go a maximum of 5 minutes, crossing the railway.
EXCURSIONS: traveled independently
-Colombo (interesting to wander);
-Halle (I advise everyone as an independent trip, because it's easy to get to the track and there you can walk around the fort at least all day, and if you take some information from home, it's cool, there is a beach)
-Matara + Dondra (in Matara the fort is a little smaller than Halle, in Dondra you can climb the lighthouse with a gorgeous view)
-Kalutara (Just saw another city)
-Hikkaduwa (cool beach with clear water)
We went with the hotel guide Dominic: Kandy-Dambula-Nuwara-Elia-Sigiriya. The program itself was interesting, but due to poor organization we did not like it, for example, the city of Kandy did not see only in the Temple of the Tooth Buddha, although they said that we do not want it and want all day in the Botanical Garden.
There were still plans for Polonaruva, Anuradhapura, Trinkomali, but they didn't have time for an hour!
The country is very interesting, a lot of ways to travel (train, bus, tuk-tuk), everywhere interesting, a lot of fruit!
I would go again to some other coast!
Separately, I would like to greet everyone who was with us at the hotel: adventure lovers Tanya and Denis from Kiev, orchid lover Natasha from Chernivtsi, funny mother Svetlana and her daughter, interesting Valerie and Natasha from Kiev!
