We stayed at the end of June 2011. The hotel is NORMAL! I liked it in principle. Normal 4-ka, often in Turkey and Egypt, such hotels put on the level of even 5 stars! First of all, I will describe the cons, but there are not many of them! The area is small and a bit boring. Nowhere to roam and change activities. Animation - unobtrusive: aqua aerobics, volleyball, cricket. Of the entertainment programs, only boring darts, bingo and from time to time invite people to conduct a show. But is that what they go there for? So the calm did not bother us! Very small selection of food in the restaurant. As elsewhere (I noticed this practice in all hotels and all countries), if we didn’t finish it in the morning, we’ll decorate it and serve it for lunch, if there’s something left from lunch, we’ll use it to cook dinner! But no one went hungry. You can find food for every taste. Fish, meat, chicken, pasta, vegetables, salads. They have delicious potatoes! Dishes of the local cuisine are VERY spicy, the good thing is that they stand separately and you don’t accidentally confuse them! Of the fruits, they always served delicious pineapples, papaya, bananas, pechin fruit. Ice cream was often offered. If this choice of fruits is not enough for you, you can always go out into the city (15 minutes by foot) and buy whatever you want in local shops for a penny! English speaking staff. Very welcoming and kind. If you give a tip in the amount of 1. e. and above - they will run after you and please you in everything! Although this is not required! The hotel, though far from new, is pleasantly clean and well maintained. The tablecloths in the restaurant are changed after each meal, the rooms are cleaned to the conscience! There is a garden on the roof of the main building where yoga classes are held in the evenings! Highly recommend. Although not mega professional, it is very interesting and beautiful! We lived in a bungalow. Despite many bad reviews, I personally have nothing bad to say. Yes, it is clear that everything is far from new. But clean and tidy. And there is nothing to hang around in the room! The beach is the BOMB! Ocean - SUPER! We were during the monsoon and high waves. Therefore, you don’t swim much, but jumping and fooling around on the waves is no less pleasant! Nearby, to the right along the beach 5min is a cute barchik "At Lelik", there is also an Ayurveda salon! I highly recommend going for a massage and drinking fresh juice (pineapple 2.5 USD, lime 1.5 USD). We tried to eat there - I'm not in awe, but you can eat! Only stupid Sri Lankans can ruin shrimp with ketchup sauce! So if you do - ask for the sauce separately! From excursions, we ventured only to Kandy (a comprehensive excursion: an elephant nursery, a tea plantation and the Temple of the Tooth Relic). Interesting, but tiring because of the road. Movement 30-50 km/h. The 160 km trip is delayed from early morning until late evening. But beautiful! There is a local friend on the beach - the name is Ratna. For 3 years he himself learned Russian and speaks English! You can ride with him! Normal, reliable and interesting friend! Be sure to take a tuk-tuk with him to Vaduva. For 3-5 bucks you will get a lot of impressions: the exotic of the station and the temple near it, a bakery (this is if in the evening), the temple of the sleeping buddha, a forest with monkeys, etc.
Alcohol is lousy! I didn’t like coconut vodka at all - something like moonshine and the color is like tea! Better stock up in kid-free! Carry plenty of cigarettes with you, even if you don't smoke! There cigarettes are bad and expensive! Many services can be obtained simply for cigarettes!
Very high humidity! Do not be surprised if photographic equipment fogs up! Stock up on a first aid kit! After all, Lanka is a training India... you never know . .

It is very difficult to rent a car. . . So don't flatter yourself. But for quite inexpensive, you can take a car with a local driver, who will also become a guide!
Eat and enjoy! Swim, walk, visit excursions! And don't pay attention to the little things!
