We stayed at "Sarunas" for two nights from January 6th to 8th, 2010. Good, solid though a bit old-fashioned hotel.
Located next to the stadium, in the "Olympic town". Far from the Old Town (20-30 minutes walk). Friendly staff who speak Russian. The first thing you notice when you enter the hall is an unusual
room for hotels. There is a lot of free space, a high ceiling, wide flights of stairs, spacious rooms, there is a white piano in the hotel lobby, soft chairs are placed, there are cupboards with dishes on the landings - you can’t immediately make out where you got - either to a hotel, or to someone's country villa : ). Our triple room had two double (! ) beds and one additional one - a full-fledged one and a half bed, and not some kind of folding bed! : ) There is a safe in the room - it closes with a regular mechanical key! : ) As for me - this is already exotic : ) Toilet, shower, TV, mini-bar (very decent, albeit a little expensive), spacious closet (you can sleep there : )) - everything is as it should be, among other things, there is Wi-Fi in the room. Excellent daily housekeeping. The room is locked with a key, and not with a card, as is now customary in most European hotels. Breakfasts are as good and conservative as the hotel itself. Wonderful fresh pastries, in the menu of hot dishes, in addition to standard omelettes, sausages and potatoes, there is oatmeal (healthy food : )), as in many Baltic hotels, fish is served for breakfast, but not salted, as, for example, in Riga and Tallinn, but fried in breadcrumbs. Good selection of cheeses and yoghurts.

Unfortunately, there is no currency exchange at the reception, you can find out the exchange rate only at the bank, going out into the city center (inconvenient for those who arrived late in the evening), but there is an ATM on the first floor of Sarunas. There are no grocery stores near the hotel, there is a pizzeria open until late, a stone's throw from the hotel there is an alcohol shop with a funny opening hours (from 22 pm to 8 am) and a 24-hour (! ) fishing tackle shop!: )
Vilnius made a very favorable impression on us: friendly, somehow hospitable citizens in the south, reasonable prices (especially in comparison with Latvia and Estonia), and the extraordinary beauty of the Old Town. A wonderful, wide selection of souvenirs, beautiful amber jewelry, delicious beer. In the information center on the Cathedral Square, we were given a free guide to Vilnius, with the help of which we found the main sights of the city and got a little acquainted with their history. Vilnius was the last stop on our
New Year's voyage to the Baltic countries and we were very pleased. We hope to visit this wonderful city again! : )
I wish you all pleasant travels and vivid impressions!
