Christmas
We decided to celebrate Christmas in Riga, my old dream. We went by car across the Estonian border near Pskov from St. Petersburg so closer. Be sure to book your return trip, otherwise there is a risk of getting stuck for a long time. We booked the Monte Cristo hotel in the old town. There is a pedestrian zone around the hotel, it is impossible to drive up, but walking around the city is very convenient, everything is nearby. The hotel has a kettle in the rooms, so if you get cold, you can go in to warm up. In general, I liked the hotel, I recommend it, but not for the spoiled public. The car was left in Stockman, but not in a daily parking lot, but in a daily one. You can find it like this: drive up to where cars are parked in Stockman, and drive further under the bridge and further to the right, as if into a tunnel. You will see the machine on the driver's side, level the car and press the button, get a check and then up to the parking lot, look for a free place. A day costs 12 euros, you pay the next day at the bottom of the duty officer. Excursions can be taken on the spot, a lot of private guides. We didn't take it, we followed the guidebook. We dined at Double Coffee, as there were a lot of people in the Lido and the food stank so much that you would be ventilated for three days later. And in Double everything is wonderful and tasty, and the price tag is tolerable. We really liked the inhabitants of Riga. Friendly and very responsive people. Even young people speak Russian, which was very nice. We travel a lot, and for example in Estonia, people are not very willing to communicate in Russian, and it is easier to communicate with young people in English, they mostly do not speak Russian.
In general, I liked everything very much. A big request to compatriots who go to visit the Latvians: "Behave with dignity and do not forget that you are visiting. Thank you. "
