Montenegro met with snow

We crossed the border between Macedonia and Montenegro late at night. And here it is! Surprise - in the mountains, our Sunflower was among the snow cover. This cheered up Vitaly Evgenievich, who was already falling asleep at the wheel, but not for long. Tiring mountain serpentine literally lulled. Therefore, they did not tempt fate - so they spent the night in the mountains.

This is the landscape that dawn gave us on October 28th. On the horizon, about 20 kilometers away, I was touched by a small factory. Waking up was nice and fresh. We look out the window, and KAMAZ trucks are flying along the highway nearby... Well, we set off again on the road.

Having already arrived in Podgorica, they began to think and guess where we would spend the night. We wanted to rent inexpensive apartments, we found an option near Podgorica - in the city of Bar. We arrived, barely found (the apartments were on stilts over the sea a little under the hill), found the owner, but through the word (English is not very common in Montenegro) they realized that he was a watchman, but there was no hostess. We called the number indicated in the reservation - they heard the purest Moscow accent, then we were very surprised. But still, nothing happened - the season had already ended, and she was far from the city (or maybe she was confused by the Ukrainian accent).

What to do? They just started knocking on all the doors. But - the season is over, everyone closed, only the watchman remained. With difficulty, we found one working hotel (all year round), rented a room - Vitaly Evgenievich fainted, because the housing cost 65 euros - we never paid such huge sums anywhere!

Here you should pay your attention to such a detail: we practically do not spend money on accommodation. Sometimes we spend the night at a gas station, sometimes in modest hostels, sometimes we are kindly accommodated by members of Ukrainian communities, at embassies or we stop by to visit friends... For money we spend the night no more than 1-2 times a week, and even then no more than 25-30 euros.

So, for example, we had the cheapest hostel in Lithuania - 15 euros for two with parking and the Internet. The most expensive is "Apartments 63" - 40 euros with parking, internet and breakfast ...

In view of this, the appearance of the first real hotel for the entire period of the circumnavigation of the world has become an event for us! We decided to rent a room in it, because it was already time to go to a meeting at the Embassy, and not look for housing, and we spent the previous night in the mountains. Yes, and the price included 2 breakfasts…

But back to more important things. The Embassy of Ukraine in Montenegro seemed very comfortable to us, and in general the meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere. Only three people work here: Honorary Consul of Ukraine Predrag Milovich (citizen of Montenegro), Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in Montenegro, 2nd Secretary for Consular Affairs Tatyana Volkova and a volunteer. Despite the constant employment of the Consul, we were given enough attention. Of particular interest is information about the economic relations between Ukraine and Montenegro in terms of the economy, for example, what opportunities the country provides for Ukrainian business.

It was a great joy for us to get to know the city. Tatyana showed us a monument to Taras Shevchenko and a local landmark - "little Niagara".

Thursday was marked by the rescue of birds. The wall of the hotel is mirrored, so the birds fly without stopping, hitting and falling down half-dead, and right there lazy cats are waiting for them. We were just having breakfast when a bird fell unconscious before our very eyes. But the cats did not get it - we hid it under a flower in a tall flowerpot, and an hour later it had already recovered and flew away. Lucky!

Another oil painting: olive trees grow near the hotel, and one of them was shamelessly carried around by several gypsies.

But our adventures didn't end there!

On the way to Albania, we stopped at a small village. Here, from the yard, locals sell tangerines and pomegranates, just like our grandmothers put out milk and eggs. Well, what is there to think about - they picked up a box of tangerines and a couple of grenades ...

everything cost 6 euros. Tangerines are so sweet, which we have not eaten in our entire life, they lasted for a week, but we have not tried pomegranates yet.
