The Sugar Beach Hotel is located on the west coast of Mauritius, about an hour's drive from the capital Port Louis, in a place called Flic en Flac. The hotel is not new, it is unlikely to please with the luxurious interiors of the rooms, but the rooms have everything you need, TV, hairdryer, kettle, etc. The territory is well-groomed, beautiful palm trees, a small pond in which swans, ducks, flamingos swim. The beach is long, at the bottom there are a lot of corals and sea urchins. Be sure to take coral slippers with you so as not to injure your feet. The sea is clean, but the ebbs and flows are very noticeable. Swimming at low tide will not work. (They say that the sea is good in the north, in the town of Monchois, but we were not there). Excellent climate, not hot, not very humid, short rains every day for 15-20 minutes. You can lie on the beach under an umbrella all day without getting burned. Very pleased with the food. The hotel has three restaurants, the main one is a buffet, and two are a la carte, which we did not go to, as the food was very tasty and varied in the main restaurant, every day there were themed dinners - a day of Indian cuisine, then Italian, Spanish, Creole, African. The menu was not repeated, every day new dishes, including sea urchins, mussels, live oysters, shrimps, palm salad. The breakfast is varied, tasty, but the menu is the same. The service is not intrusive, but very friendly. Somehow they came for breakfast half an hour before the opening of the restaurant, we were allowed to have breakfast, no one said a word with the dishes that had already been arranged - we are closed, come back later. Special thanks to the administrator - Anna Kler, who resolved the issue with a late check-out. I want to note that the hotel provided it completely free of charge. The hotel has a taxi service for the whole day to the sights of the island, four main directions - north, south, west, east. The prices are reasonable, 5-6 times cheaper than a guided tour, the taxi driver is waiting for you as long as you need. You just need to speak a little English. Please ask the reception for the service. Not far from the hotel, about 15 minutes by car, is Casaville - a village of shops, of course this is not an outlet, there are not many shops for 1 - 1.5 you will go around everything, prices are average, you can buy souvenirs. Within a 25-minute walk from the hotel there are several restaurants, a grocery store, a fruit stand. We went once, the hotel food is good, half board was quite enough. There was no special animation, once there was a children's performance based on the fairy tale Frozen. There is a kids club with one teacher for each child. In general, the impressions of the hotel and the trip are positive. A wonderful island, with unusually beautiful flora and fauna.
