Good evening. Just returned, rested from 12 to 22 November. I must say right away that the opinion with my wife is a little different: she liked it more than me. They flew perfectly, both there and back. The island is big enough. The proximity of the island to the capital Male and the port has a negative effect. At high tide, a lot of dirt (plastic bottles, cans, coconuts, etc. ) is washed ashore from the ships standing on the roadstead. Garbage bags stand on the beach for a long time. All this leaves a certain imprint of neglect.
I can't say anything bad about the food, it's delicious. The rooms in the hotel are lokhovsky, the furniture is old, the plumbing is pre-revolutionary. The room that we were offered, we immediately changed to the second floor, because on the first floor it smells of dampness and is completely shabby. Changed without problems (I advise you). There are almost no Russians in the hotel, mostly Germans. In Russian, no one speaks belmes, including the reception, so if there is no basic knowledge of English or German, there will be problems. What we liked: no need to look for a table during breakfast, lunch, dinner, they are numbered to match the room number; the sea is beautiful but shallow. There is no such transparency as in Egypt. There are no corals. Lots of life. The main purpose of my trip is diving. The organization of diving in the Maldives is very clear and strict. All instructors (there are 5 of them) are professionals of the highest class, they treat Russians very kindly (I was one of the Russians). Don't even come without a certificate. It is impossible to get a certificate, because there is no Russian instructor. The maximum diving depth is 30 meters and this is justified: very strong currents, well, very strong currents. Two Germans were carried at a depth of 30 meters per kilometer into the open ocean, barely found. But again - the water is not as clear as in the Red Sea, so there is no such service as underwater video filming. Excursions: were in Male and on night fishing. You can go to Male (free of charge) for the sake of interest, it’s better not to go fishing (price 35 USD per person): 5 hours in the open ocean on a yacht (similar to a tram) caught 5 fish, but talked everyone so that it was bad . and best of all, there are no amenities on the yacht. And one more thing: a lot of algae on the beach and in the water. It's not dirty, but it's annoying. In short, if it were not for diving, I would whine. My advice: still try to choose a hotel away from the capital. I put 4, but with a big interference.
With all respect, Andrew.
