The Riu Caribe 5 * hotel was chosen on the advice of our tour operator (well, after comparing reviews and price-quality ratios).
Settlement. We arrived around 21.00. Huge lobby with palm trees and fans. The administrator in English very quickly brought us up to date. Settled immediately, during the registration they were treated to fruits, cocktails. The contingent is mostly Americans, Canadians and Mexicans from the northern states. There are Europeans, but they are few. There are also Russian speakers, even fewer of them.
Number. We got number 326, with a view of the sea, which we did not get tired of admiring! Clean, comfortable, everything works: air conditioning, TV, hair dryer (remember the American type of sockets, our appliances need an adapter). Wi-Fi around the clock throughout the hotel, including the beach. On two devices - free of charge, on the third - for an extra charge. fee. The speed is great. Minibar - available (4 types of alcohol), in the fridge - beer, Pepsi, 7up, everything was regularly replenished. The room was cleaned daily, elephant seals were spun from towels after each cleaning. There are no insects, except bees in the corridors, which are very passive, do not fly or bite.

Food. We have not seen such diversity anywhere else. Seafood - do not count. Meat is a great choice. For breakfast - only from eggs there were about 10 dishes (white omelet, yolk omelette, poached eggs, etc. ). We did not go to a la carte restaurants, because in the main restaurant every day there were "a lacarte" dishes - sushi, rolls - from a Japanese restaurant, tortilla-quesadillas from a Mexican, meat - for every taste! Side dishes - we didn't even try everything. Wonderful desserts. Fruits and vegetables are delicious! Waiters are constantly running around - alcohol, white wine, red wine - without restrictions. I can't help but mention the Americans - such a choice of food, and they have french fries and hamburgers on their plates !!!!!! ! If you do not have time for breakfast or dinner due to excursions, the sports bar is open around the clock: tea, coffee, salads, sandwiches, desserts, fruits. There are also bars near the pools. There, in addition to drinks and snacks, a full meal - from the main restaurant. (By the way, the menu is also in Russian! )
Beach and area. The sea is amazing colors! Turquoise to dark blue. There was some algae floating around, but they didn't interfere. The air-sea temperature ratio is very comfortable. White fine sand on the beach. There are enough sun loungers for everyone - you don’t have to “according to the Turkish-Egyptian custom” run at dawn and occupy them with a towel. But! Birds fly both on the beach and on the territory of the hotel near the pools, so there are a lot of traces of their natural waste on the sunbeds. The staff, most likely, simply does not have time to wipe the sunbeds. Sellers of all sorts of things and service providers walk along the beach, but they are absolutely unobtrusive. Bar staff also walk around and constantly offer drinks or clean empty containers.
Animation. Very funny, groovy guys. You won't be bored! Endless volleyballs and polo in the pool, salsa in the sea, step aerobics, etc. , fun competitions for both adults and children. Foam parties in the pool. Well, the evening shows are generally something amazing! Professional, bright, spectacular. Great makeup and costumes.
Staff. There are no Russian speakers among the staff. Almost everyone speaks English, except for the maids. Welcoming, friendly, smiling, ready to help if needed.
Tours. We took two. The first is Ek-balam, Khubik cenote, pink lakes (flamingos), Rio Lagartos reserve (the crocodiles were very impressive! ). We left at 5.35 and returned at 23.45 (ie we had breakfast and dinner at the sports bar, lunch is included in the tour). The second is the ancient cities: Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza, Cenote Ik-Kil. We stopped on the way to a Mayan village and a private tequila factory. The cost is from $165. But it's worth it! Amazing guides Emilio and Alexander!!!!!! ! Anyone, even the most indifferent, they will simply fall in love with these places! But, again, the road is long, we must be prepared for this.

Souvenirs were bought at the Walmart supermarket (we traveled to the city on our own by buses R1, R2, one-way fare - 12 pesos) and, oddly enough, on Chichen Itza, the main thing is to bargain to the bitter end, or rather, to the desired price.
We went to the Mayan Museum on the long side of the "seven" - I do not dissuade, but we did not like it. Well, except that there are a lot of monitor lizards in the archaeological zone of the museum.
Weather. Weather forecasts persistently frightened us with rain for the entire holiday period. But, in fact, for all the time it rained only 2 times. The first - one evening, when it was already dark, the second time it rained for an hour when we went on an excursion. Those. It didn't bother us either! A couple of times it was overcast, the sun was hiding behind the clouds, you went out.
Let's go back to the hotel. We definitely recommend the hotel!
Have a nice trip!
