I rested in Blue Bay in November, TO was Pegasus, flight Nord Windom, respectively. Of course, I did not want to get involved with the latter because of their notoriety, but there was no choice. Of course, I did not want to get involved with the latter because of their notoriety, but there was no choice. The flight turned out to be better than I expected - without delays, but extremely difficult due to early departures in both directions, appointed by some sadist, arrival also in the early morning, due to a sleepless night and the next 12 hours in the air, it is unrealistic to live until evening. The punctuality of departures and the novelty of the aircraft are among the few advantages of Nord Wind, everything else is much worse. The food is terrible, the chairs are incredibly narrow, there are no amenities other than blankets. Individual light does not work, kina is on board, there are no newspapers, magazines - just the stone age. Pegasus stuffed a full bus upon arrival for an hour and a half, because Mexican passport control is a very long time. In the opposite direction - even worse - the Mexicans are passionately searching every hand luggage bag, getting into even small pockets, the first time I see this. Although the airport is 40 minutes away, Pegasus picks up from the hotel more than 4 hours before departure. The nature of Yucatan immediately struck with its abundant wealth - impassable jungle on both sides of the road. The weather was also pleasing. For 2 weeks, a couple of days were rainy, with strong winds and a slight storm at sea, another 3 days - partly cloudy, very comfortable, with slight short-term drizzling rain, the rest of the days - scorching heat under 50 in the sun. Some nights and early mornings were painfully cold. As I understand it, Blue Bay is quite modest by Mexican standards, but when compared to the poor 4s, Cuban and Dominican, where I was before, the hotel is beautiful and at first seems generally excellent, but then some shortcomings begin to appear. Check-in at the hotel from 15, so if Pegasus brought you at 10 in the morning, exhausted by a long flight and inability to sleep, if you please, wait 5 hours with solitude and sleep. The hotel consists of 8 (9.2-4 storey buildings, of which a couple of the farthest from the beach were completely empty during my stay. The territory is huge, mostly occupied by pristine mangroves with animals living in them - these are, first of all, the cutest coatis, raccoons, squirrels, iguanas and even deer that captivated me, 3 of them regularly watched, settled down for the night behind our building. As soon as I saw these thickets on the water, I immediately thought that there were a lot of mosquitoes, but they showed themselves in all their glory after the first rainy day, they weren’t really in the room. In addition to them, some other insects devoured me, leaving small, convex bites, unbearably frequent. They fight insects there by periodically spraying special smoke, so there are not very many of them. In my trips to historical places, I saw so many devoured Pindos that it was scary to look at, so we were still tolerant in this regard. The territory is green, everything is well-groomed, but little has been mastered in terms of gardening art, croton bushes are planted in some places, lawns are broken, well, there are palm trees on the beach, otherwise the natural vegetation is preserved. For the first couple of days it seems that the road from the lobby to the beach is endless, but then you get used to it, especially since it takes about 10 minutes to walk there at a fast pace and you can also take an electric car if you get a passing one, which constantly run. Despite the signs placed everywhere, I managed to navigate the paths only by the end of the 2nd day, before that I wandered around the same buildings for a long time in search of the way to the main buffet, the beach, etc. At the same time, the residents looked at me with suspicion from my balconies, which I passed by 3-4 times. Cleanliness and order in public places, close to ideal. The room was given a 3-minute walk from the beach and beach buffet, with a balcony on the road, of course. The bathroom turned out to be completely inconsistent with the declared level of the hotel, a utterly shabby faucet and a shower head, as well as an antediluvian tube, albeit large, TV (not 1 Russian-language channel). Otherwise, the equipment and decoration of the room did not cause rejection - natural wood furniture, a wide bed with a super-high mattress, as I like. A spacious closet, enough hangers for me, a chest of drawers, a huge bathtub designed for an average American weighing 150 kilos, a balcony with a table and 2 chairs, mirrors (full-length including), normally working condo and ceiling fan. Light fixtures are sufficient. I also did not like the marble floor, in the morning it was just icy. Of the amenities there was an iron with a board, an umbrella, a coffee maker with cups and tea and coffee. The cleaning is simply impeccable, I haven’t seen anything like this for a long time - the floors and the bath are washed daily, the dust is wiped, mirrors, balcony glass - everything is clean, linen is changed 3 times a week for sure, napkins and towels are beautifully laid out. Replenishment of the mini-bar (beer, water, mineral water, carbonated poisons) and consumables for hygiene and tea drinking as in a pharmacy. The only negative point is that on weekends they came to clean up at 3 o’clock, although on weekdays I usually had it already cleaned at 9 am. If you were settled, like me, in a room with a balcony on the road where electric cars drive, then you are provided with zero "quality of sleep". Until late at night and from the very early morning, long before dawn, you will listen to how they ply under the windows, and drunk Pindos of adolescence, riding them for fun, neigh and squeal. In addition, there is no sound insulation in the buildings, as a phenomenon. Everything that is happening on the floor above / below, on the side, in the corridor outside the door, is heard, as if all this is happening right in your room. I couldn't sleep well in this hotel. Slippers and bathrobes are not provided for the Russians in the rooms, while the Pindos had them at their disposal, as well as a fruit basket + a bottle of tequila upon arrival. At all buildings, except for those where ours are lodged, concierges are on duty all day long, solving the problems of guests if they arise, but I had to call / drag around the lobby several times with my questions. So, they brought me a cork for the bathroom and changed the burned-out lamp only on the 3rd day, after repeated requests. At the same time, the guest relation in the lobby, calling the economic service in front of me, each time answered Russia to the obvious question, where the guest came from and probably received the answer: “well, Russian, figs with her, she’ll wait”. I don’t remember the last time I saw signs of such obvious discrimination based on nationality. The sea at the hotel is terrible, a lot has been written about this even without me. I went into this sea exactly 2 times, then I went to swim in a nearby hotel, as our other people did, or to a pretty lagoon near the last hotel on the left. At the same time, the beach is wide, and throughout its entire length the same picture is there - no depth, algae, mangrove mud, vile brown water. But it’s worth going behind the pier on the right and literally 200m away from the neighbors there is a normal entry, the water is more pleasant and there is depth, so you can swim. The beach itself is no better - on average, for 20 sunbeds - 1 reed mushroom, which is unacceptable given the intensity of solar radiation there. The sunbeds are the cheapest - with synthetic matting on a plastic core, but there are a lot of them. Card towels. Showers and toilets in close proximity to the beach are available. During my walks along the coast, I could not help but notice that of all the nearby hotels near Blue Bay, the beach is certainly the worst, both in terms of the sea itself and equipment. . Cocoa there is nasty, solid sugar, coffee is poured, tea (packaged, but high-quality, 10 kinds, they bring), there is trouble with natural juices, packaged (grapes, grapefruit, etc. ) you have to beg in bars, by default they pour chemistry, which is available for bottling in the morning. Lunches and dinners are almost identical, with the only difference being that in the evenings the cuisine of different countries is presented (local, Italian, oriental, etc. ). Delicious cream soups, awesome ice cream (6 types on the main buffet, I could not resist nut and coconut), bulk meat, but lumpy beef was most often overdried (like tuna), and pork was sometimes not brought to readiness, on the other hand, barbecue ribs are just delicious, wonderful white fish, not delicacy, but fleshy and juicy (having eaten meat, in recent days I ate it and seafood more often), tender squid rings with amazing mussels in the wings (what we sell in jars under this name, it doesn’t fit the local mussels), less often shrimp, a lot of chicken dishes, including stewed in chocolate. There was even a kind of salami (so-so). Of the side dishes - rice with fillers, beans, vegetable stew of 5 types of cabbage, zucchini, eggplant, etc. , again potatoes, pasta, all kinds of fresh vegetables and greens for salads, traditional and spicy sauces for them (I especially liked onion overcooked with jalapeno), gaucamole (I always took it, for avocado I fulfilled the norm for six months in advance). Well, various Mexican flour products with fillings - burritos, enchiladas, of course, were available all the time, as well as nachos. The cakes there are amazingly tasty, but I rarely got to them, I hit the ice cream more (it comes with nuts, coconut, chocolate balls, berry sauces). The white and red wine on the buffet is disgusting, but there is something to drink without it. Any drinks are included, good champagne including (and at breakfast too), cream liqueurs, strong ones - whatever your heart desires. Cocktails are delicious only in the a la carte bar, which opens at 6 pm, in other places they don’t try to make them, as expected, even with a tip, while they strive to pour the cheapest alcohol into them. Dirty dishes, tablecloths, never seen anywhere. There are 2 bars on the beach, in 1 you can pour, among other things, soft ice cream, in the round-the-clock sports bar there are always sandwiches, cookies, fruits (apples, bananas, less often guava, peaches, grapes, kiwi). In general, I liked the Mexican ALL very much, although I have long been fully aware of the viciousness of this food system. The hotel already has 2 gyms, both frail, only 1 rocking chair, other - treadmills, cardio walkers, exercise bikes and a rack with weights. Non-aggressive animation began its work in the morning by the large pool. Wi-Fi is free, the password is given upon check-in, it catches on the entire territory, incl. beach (with a small crowd of people there). The contingent is Americans, Canadians, locals (many), a little bit of ours and Europe. The hotel is considered quiet and family friendly, but drunken American teenagers bawling under the windows at night, passing by on an elmobile, really infuriated. There were children, but not many, mostly Mexican. Beyond the outskirts - only neighboring hotels along the highway, on the opposite side - the jungle. The nearest town of Playa del Carmen is 10-15 minutes by bus for 20 pesos, but you still need to walk to it, because. from the lobby to the gate on foot the same amount, or by hotel bus for $ 5. There you can take a walk, shop both on 5th Avenue and in supermarkets for locals. Everything is quite expensive on 5th Avenue even after 30% bargaining, prices are all calculated for Americans. I unexpectedly liked the local cranial-skeletal motifs in a souvenir, I took several of these works for myself. It is impossible to resist the purchase of leather sandals-purses-cases, all of excellent quality, wicker hats are also wonderful. Well, cocoa in tablets, chocolate with chili, etc. It seemed safe to me in Playa, but after the incident with the robbery in Santo Domingo, I was always on the alert and did not relax for a minute outside the hotel. I went to Playa on average in a day or 2, so as not to sit all the time in the hotel. I also got to Tulum and Koba on the chaise longue, climbed everything there. It is preferable to combine these objects, because from Playa to Tulum, as it turned out, the path is not close and leave as early as possible in the morning, because the last bus from Coba leaves at 15-10, and there is no other transport except for a taxi. In general, I liked my 1st Mexican experience, the trip was better than expected. I must say that Mexico is not at all like Cuba or the Dominican Republic, its island neighbors in the Caribbean, which was a complete surprise for me. I would return to the country again, but to a different hotel.

The hotel is good, but of course, does not pull on the declared five! The food is good, there are many special restaurants, so everyone visited (I especially liked the steak house). The rooms are clean, cleaned carefully, but we left a tip every day for 20 pesos. The hotel has a bad coast, but dreamed of seeing the Caribbean!! ! Eh!!! ! We decided to make up for this with trips on excursions. We took one tour from our guide from Natalie, and the second from Oksana! The first excursion went well: a cheerful and erudite guide Anton showed all the delights of the ancient Mayan cities of Koba and Ek Balam. Of course, the small group also pleased (only 13 people). But the excursion to ChichenItza, which we took not from Natalie tour, but from the girl Oksana (who was staying at the hotel) upset us: we were promised a good guide and a minibus: as a result, the guide Oksana, who knows nothing at all about the country in which she lives! ! ! Terrible of course!! ! And with the minibus they almost didn’t deceive: it was almost so old and uncomfortable that it was more convenient to walk on foot, and there weren’t even 2 seats, so two girls were sitting on their boyfriends! Thank God we have enough space! And I can’t imagine how it’s possible to go like this for 3 hours ! ! We regretted that we didn’t go with Natalie! So do not believe this liar Oksana!! ! In general, the hotel is like a hotel! There are pros and cons!
