The first departure from Manila took place just in Batangas. The goal was to relax on the beach with swimming and view the smallest volcano in the world in Tagaytay - Taalya along the way. The sea in Manila is dirty and only local homeless people swim there. So Batangas is the best vacation solution if you don’t want to fly or swim anywhere. Only 1.5-2 hours from Manila by car. There are also regular buses. There is another side from Manila Subic, but this will be a separate review.
The road to Batangas is normal, sometimes mountainous, passes through Tagaytay. All guidebooks write that Taal is the smallest active volcano in the world. The fact that it is the smallest is true, only now it has not been operating at all for many years. You can look at it from the observation deck of one of the hotels, as well as along the road in open areas. You can't get there by transport. We were told that we could somehow go down on horseback or swim up on a boat, but all this had to be organized, but it was very lazy. Look down and that's enough. Also in the Tagaytay area, you can buy various fruits very cheaply. An example of prices is 5 pineapples for 100 pesos. (1 dollar is about 40 pesos. So count it).
There is absolutely nothing to do in Batangas itself. Only hotels and the private sector.

Location. Canyon is one of the first hotels along the road. Actually it was by such standards that he was chosen to stop. The territory is well-groomed, clean. Although there is construction nearby. Friends said that before the hotel was very even nothing, but now its owner has gone bankrupt due to the crisis and the hotel has nothing to do. But this is not Turkey for a week on all inclusive, but only for 2 days and the Philippines, so the territory of the hotel was the least of all. I wanted the sea, the sun and the beach. Speaking of birds, it is a mistake to think that the Philippine Islands are surrounded by an ocean - alas and ah - this is just the South China Sea. This is felt in Batangas, but not in Cebu, Boracay, Bohol and other islands.
Number. Normal room, clean. It is not clear why, in addition to two beds, there was still a podium bed, not made up, just one mattress. As it turned out in the process - this is for a massage, she also replaces the table for you if you decide to order food in the room. The balcony is large, ours overlooked the sea. The bathroom has shampoo and gel, as well as soap and toothbrushes with pastes.
Beach and pool. Alas, we were unlucky with the weather. Everything was gray and it even rained, though not for long. The beach is not very equipped, dirty. Towels are provided. The entrance to the sea is sand, with small stones. There are a lot of crabs, and pieces of coral can also be found on the shore. It is more comfortable near the pool, and all because the locals prefer to relax and swim just in the pools. The pool is big and beautiful. There is a section for children. There is also a playground for children.
Food. This is, of course, a complete bummer. In the evening, we ordered fruit to the room, since, alas, only fruits were available on the menu. I had to order delivery from McDonald's. The fruits are so-so, the watermelon that I so wanted was not very sweet, and even sluggish. We paid for the hotel with breakfast - in vain. What I saw for breakfast stole my appetite until dinner. Starting from the elevator to the restaurant, you could come by smell. Very bad smell, I tell you. From what I remember - rice (but this is in all hotels), very smelly and seemingly inedible fish and two types of beef in incomprehensible sauces. That's the whole breakfast. No dairy products were offered, and there were no eggs either. Juice a la UPI powder. Tea and coffee are also available from the machines. The pancake type pancakes were terrible. There were no complaints about the buns. Because of the aromas in the restaurant had to eat bread and juice on the street.

I will not recommend this hotel to anyone, you can drive a little further around Batangas and find much better hotels, which we did 2 more times.
