The Liwa oasis is located 100 km south of the Persian Gulf coast southeast of the city of Abu Dhabi in the Rub al-Khali desert. The oasis is an island of palm trees and shrubs, alternating with sand dunes up to 50 meters high, the color of which changes depending on the time of day. This is a great place for outdoor activities, in the form of desert surfing. In Liva, you can also see 19th-century fortresses built of clay bricks and straw. Every year, the traditional summer date festival takes place on the territory of the oasis, where hundreds of date producers from different countries gather, after which the best variety of dates is selected.
