Even as a child, every summer there was an agreement with my uncle that, after picking apricots, he would take me and my sisters to Yerevan for a walk. The first thing that was definitely included in our plan was a visit to the Yerevan Zoo. And most often, we didn’t want to go anywhere else, but spent the whole day at the zoo.
Still, a huge territory - 25 hectares, immersed in greenery, a large number of interesting familiar and unfamiliar animals, reptiles and insects (which I am still afraid of), birds, etc.
This place will be interesting not only for children, but also for adults. Here, locals often spend weekends watching the behavior of their pets, arranging family holidays, or simply relaxing on a bench near a pond with birds. On holidays, clowns and heroes of favorite cartoons perform in the park. There are also specially equipped playgrounds where children have fun on swings and carousels.
The Yerevan Zoo encourages children's creativity in every possible way - the original sculptures are made by children from a wide variety of improvised materials. For example, a huge blue elephant created by children from plastic bottles.
The life of animals in the zoo is as close to the wild as possible. In order to get food, they must "get" it. If you come to the zoo for feeding hours, you can see a breathtaking performance - a meal of predators. It's very interesting, really.
I can’t say that this is a must see place in Yerevan, but if you are with children and have time, it’s worth a visit.
You can get to the zoo by bus, trolleybus or minibus. From the stop "ZOO" in the direction of the zoo special buses leave every hour. You can buy a ticket for them, and thereby avoid the queue at the ticket office of the park - the ticket already includes the entrance cost.
The zoo is open daily, Monday - from 11:00 to 21:00, from Tuesday to Sunday - from 9:00 to 21:00.
Ticket price on weekdays: 800 AMD - adult, 500 AMD - child. On weekends and holidays: AMD 1200 for adults, AMD 600 for children. Children under 3 years old - free of charge.
