Lake Zeller

Zeller See, Zellersee
Austria, Zell am See
Lake Zeller is 3.8 km long and 1.5 km wide. It is named after the resort of Zell am See. The maximum depth is 68 m, and it appeared at the end of the late ice age 10,000–16,000 years ago, when ice blocks broke away from the northern Glockner group. The current area of the lake is what remains of the original water area, which reached the Saalden in the north and filled part of the Salzach valley in the south.

The mountains can be reached by cable car or gondola lift. Well-preserved marked routes will lead to different altitudes. Those who find such a rest tedious can go to the promenade along the banks of the Zeller See. You can also ride a gondola directly up into the mountains and then walk through the valley.
