Skiing down from the top of Palinkopf leads to the duty-free Swiss enclave of Samnaun. This descent is a great place for those wishing to have an alpine "top skiing experience". The enclave is filled with shops and restaurants.

For the return trip to Austria, you need to pass the border checkpoint. The way back to Austria lies through a two-story cable car to the alpine "saddle" of Trida. From there, an excellent panorama opens up, you can see the intricate network of lifts and trails that intersect at this junction. It is impossible to return back to Ischgl without a lift.
