The Dragon Fountain was created in 1583 by an unknown master. The composition of the fountain is the personification of the legend of how Klagenfurt appeared and one of the symbols of the city. Legend has it that a long time ago there were impenetrable swamps where a dragon lived on the site of Klagenfurt. And so he annoyed the inhabitants of the surrounding villages that they decided to get rid of him. They threw a cry and found a brave hero who defeated the dragon in the end. And on the site of the swamps, the city of Klagenfurt was founded.→
