The city theater of Klagenfurt was first built in 1737, then it was a small wooden building with a small number of seats. Then, in 1908, the rebuilding of the theater in the Art Nouveau style began, which was completed in 1910. The project for the new building was developed by the Viennese architectural office Fellner and Helmer.

Another project of the great duo
In 1908.2 architects Felmer and Gelmer began the construction of the Music and Drama Theater in Klagenfurt here. Built quickly in 2 years. It's amazing that they never repeat themselves in their creations. I saw their theaters more than once - in Chernivtsi, Odessa, Karlovy Vary. Here they created a theater in Art Nouveau. Unexpected for such a small Austrian town. In the workshop of this great architectural duo and their assistants, more than 200 magnificent buildings were designed throughout Europe.→

Urban architecture lovers
The first theater building was built on this site in the 16th century. The prestige of the city theater at that time was raised by the performances of the stage stars who stopped in Klagenfurt on the way from Venice to Vienna. In the 18th century, the wooden structure of the theater was replaced by a more durable version, and a major rebuilding took place already at the beginning of the 20th century. Now the auditorium of the theater can accommodate about 1000 people.→
