Vienna is so rich in historical sights that the head is spinning. The former summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty - Schö nbrunn Palace, one of the most visited places in the Austrian capital, where the spirit of Maria Theresa and Napoleon still hovers. In the 14th century, this place was occupied by the lands of the monastery, called Kattenburg. According to the legend, in 1614, during another hunt, Emperor Matthias Kaiser discovered “beautiful springs” here, as he put it, in the original - “Schonnen Brunnen”, which led to the name of the palace.

Schö nbrunn Palace is a must see! Even if you don't have much time to visit the palace, just stop by and take a walk around the park complex. Entrance to the park is free. Paid to the palace. They provide an audio guide. It has many languages, including Russian. At the entrance there are vending machines where you can buy a ticket to visit the palace. You can also buy a ticket for a small train or a horse-drawn carriage and ride around the entire palace complex, the dimensions are impressive! You will see and feel how Emperor Franz Joseph and his beautiful wife Sisi lived and ruled.

This territory became the possession of the Habsburgs as a hunting ground. During one of the hunts, the emperor discovered a wonderful source, exclaimed “Shonnen Brunnen! ”, from where the name of the estate came from - Schö nbrunn. Emperor Leopold I began building a palace there in 1696, modeled after the Palace of Versailles. The palace was the favorite palace of Empress Maria Theresa, she lived there permanently and the palace was then the center of the political and social life of Austria-Hungary.

You really need a lot of time to explore Schö nbrunn, but even if you are passing through Vienna, set aside at least a couple of hours for a walk in the park. Take a short walk along the alleys, admire the fountains. If you are in good weather, take a couple of sandwiches with you, in the depths of the park there are special tables hidden from prying eyes where you can sit, relax and have a bite to eat.

You need to allocate a whole day for Schö nbrunn. Two is better if you plan to visit all the museums and the zoo. Then you will have time to do everything: visit the palace, wander through the labyrinth, visit the strudel show, go up to the Glorietta, go to the Zoo, relax on the alleys of the garden in the shade of trees and feed the squirrels or ducks. The Vienna residence of the Austrian emperors is a must-see during your stay in Vienna. And before visiting this beautiful palace, do not be lazy and read about the Habsburgs, it will be doubly interesting for you!.

The beautiful park near the palace is one of the best places in Vienna. But, nevertheless, it is better to come here after visiting the central part of the city. You can spend the whole day in the park, since access to it is free. For an additional fee, you can visit the imperial palace, the glorietta colonnade, the zoo, greenhouses and the labyrinth. You can get to Schö nbrunn Park, where the zoo is located, by metro - U4 line, Hietzing station.
