Hofburg, with a total area of more than 250.000 m? - built haphazardly over the centuries, is one of the largest secular buildings in Europe and an impressive monument to Austrian history. There are museums, cultural and government institutions, monuments and much more. You can walk all day and you will not see everything. I liked the sculptures depicting 12 exploits of Hercules and 2 fountains - about them separately.

Hofburg is the "Winter Palace" of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but much more ancient than the St. Petersburg counterpart. Even a tour of the palace was conducted by a lady from St. Petersburg (she used to work in the Tretyakov Gallery). There must be so much in common. Only the Habsburg dynasty occupied the palace for almost 400 years, and the first rulers of Austria lived in the Hofburg as early as the 13th century. Today it is a complex of several interconnected buildings, with 2600 rooms and 19 courtyards, which house museums, a chapel, a riding school, a national library and much more.

If you come to Vienna by bus tour, after a sightseeing tour, you can visit the Hofburg museums in your free time. For my taste, the most interesting is the Treasury. But this is all for an amateur, but my friend didn’t like it at all (he loves nature more, he likes the Butterfly House) Decide for yourself. And that's where everyone agreed - it's the Sissi Museum - well, just melancholy.

Hofburg is a huge palace complex in the heart of the city. Simply mesmerizing with its monumentality! Gorgeous palaces surrounded by parks amaze with their splendor and interior decoration. One day is not enough to see at least part of this complex. The treasures of the Habsburgs, imperial crowns, swords and orders are concentrated here, there are 2600 halls and rooms. Here are museums, excursions, horse carts, ladies in medieval dresses and annoying photographers. The whole life of Vienna boils here!.
