Salzburg Cathedral is a famous Roman Catholic cathedral, one of the most famous in Austria. The first church in its place appeared in 774, but in 1167 it was burned down. The rebuilt temple also burned down. And only the next building of the cathedral, built in 1614-1628, has survived to this day.

Salzburg Cathedral is also notable for the fact that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized in it.

Significant sacred building
The Cathedral of Saints Rupert and Virgil is a stunning monumental creation of early baroque church architecture. Visitors are greeted by the magnificent main faç ade made of marble from the Untersberg mountain. The great treasure of the cathedral is the bronze font (1311) with lions (1200), where Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Mohr were baptized at one time. A magnificent main organ, original gates (historical dates on the gate gratings - 774.1628 and 1959 testify to the solemn consecration of the cathedral), seven bells also create a rich decoration of this cathedral.→

For fans of the Baroque style in architecture
The first church building in this place dates back to the first century AD. The current building, which became the first baroque cathedral in the German-speaking lands, was built already in the 16th century. Today, the cathedral has 11 altars and 5 (!!! ) organs independent of each other. Salzburger Dom is also famous for the font in which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized. Free admission. Please note that if you stand in front of the entrance to the cathedral and slowly approach it, you will be able to observe an interesting optical illusion.→
