Park Jean Drapeau

Parc Jean Drapeau
Canada, Montreal
Montreal's Jean-Drapeau Park is located on two islands in the St. Lawrence River. The Expo-67 exhibition was held here, for which sections of the river between numerous small islands located near St. Helena were covered with garbage accumulated during the construction of the metro and turned out to be one large island. In addition, an artificial island of Notre Dame was created. After the exhibition, pavilions remained in the park, which later received a “second life”. The building of the American pavilion "Biosphere", in the form of a large transparent ball, housed the Museum of Natural History. Nearby, in the former French pavilion, one of the largest casinos in North America is open. The former British military fort now houses the Stewart Historical Museum.
The park is a great place for outdoor activities: there is a swimming pool, walking and cycling paths, a lake where you can go sailing, water skiing, rent boats, sunbathe on the beach. In winter, a huge skating rink is flooded. It also hosts the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Snow Festival, the Rock Music Festival and the International Fireworks Festival.
