Monkey Island

Monkey Island
China, Hainan
Monkey Island is the only macaque sanctuary in China where monkeys live in natural conditions. The park is located on the Nanwan Peninsula in the southern part of Linshui County. You can get to the peninsula by cable car (about 15 minutes), by funicular.

More than 2,100 monkeys of the Guangxi macaque species live on the island with an area of about a thousand hectares. Monkey families live in trees, little monkeys swim in a pool specially created for them. The park also has a monument to the monkey mother, at the pedestal on a granite slab there is an inscription in Chinese that people should be kinder, do not destroy the world, nature and beauty. Here you can also watch shows with trained monkeys.

In Chinese, about Hainan has a park called "Monkey Island". The park is delivered by cable car at a fairly high altitude. The cable car ride itself is quite interesting: beautiful landscapes open up from a height, a village on the water. According to the guide's story: most of the inhabitants of this village never set foot on solid ground, were born, lived, gave birth and raised children and died in floating houses. In the park itself, more than a thousand Guanyin macaques live in natural conditions.
