Wanlu Park is the largest tropical garden in Haikou. It covers an area of 83 hectares.
In 1993, the municipal committee of the party and government decided to build a garden. Construction voluntarily, during the year, was carried out by citizens, civil servants, students and soldiers. In total, 700,000 cubic meters of soil were filled in, 400,000 square meters of lawns were laid, and trees and flowers were planted on 10,000 square meters.
The park was opened in 1996. In total, about 10 million yuan was donated for its construction.
