Embankment Malecon

Malecon
Cuba, Havana
Malecón, Spanish for "quay", is the most popular and busiest street in Havana. This is one of the symbols and main attractions of the city.

The embankment was designed in 1875, but its construction was completed only by 1926. The Malecon is a kind of monument to the entire history of Cuba, its heroes and the entire Cuban people. There are several monuments right on the waterfront. The Malecon, whose length is no less than 7 kilometers, originates at the mouth of the Almendares River and stretches all the way to the Bay of Havana, simultaneously connecting the key areas of the Cuban capital Vedado and Miramar with Old Havana.

The Malecon is interesting both during the day and in the evening. During the day, you can walk and see the architecture of this street. As in all Old Havana, it is very interesting. It's a mix of different styles. But all the houses are very, very beautiful. In the evening, a lot of people go out to the Malecon. Both locals and tourists. We loved walking around the Malecon and looking at life in Havana. An indescribable atmosphere reigns on the Malecon. He must be seen

As numerous guidebooks write, this is one of the main symbols of Havana. I can't help but agree. The embankment stretches along residential areas for many kilometers and is a wide concrete canvas. There are no trees here, during our trip active restoration work was carried out, from which there was a lot of dust. There is nowhere to hide from the heat, so there are not many people here during the day. But nevertheless, the power of the concrete wall, the waves of the Atlantic are impressive. The famous Cuban carnival takes place along the promenade, which attracts crowds of tourists to the Malecon.
