Santa Clara is a pretty university town and the resting place of guerrilla hero Che Guevara, a must-see for all fans of the revolution. The main attraction is the Plaza de la Revolució n-Ernst Guevara, on which stands a giant statue of Che in combat uniforms, and at its base is a mausoleum in which the remains of Che and his comrades who died in 1967 in Bolivia are buried. The remains were brought to Cuba in 1997. The Museum of the History of the Revolution operates nearby (the same mode as that of the mausoleum), introducing the life of Che Guevara and his role in the Cuban revolution.
