If you happen to visit Larnaca, I advise you to definitely visit this temple, which is certainly interesting both in historical, religious and architectural terms. The temple is one of the main shrines of Orthodox Cyprus.
In the underground crypt, a tomb was found with the relics of the righteous Lazarus, Bishop of Kita. (Kition or Kitia is the ancient name of Larnaca). And above it at the end of the 9th century a temple was built, with three naves (central and lateral) and three domes (now they are gone). According to legend, the domes were demolished during the Turkish occupation, when a Turkish officer who arrived at the port of Larnaca, mistaking the domes of the temple for the domes of a mosque, knelt down and prayed.
Entrance to the temple is free. Look at the beautiful iconostasis of the 18th century with 120 icons (among which there is also the Byzantine period), the ark with the relics of St. Lazarus. Go down to the crypt with the holy spring.
