Nostic Palace

Czech republic, Prague
The baroque building is located in the central part of the Czech capital - on the Maltese Square. The palace was built in the 17th century, and got its name in honor of its customers - the noble Nostits family, famous patrons of their time. Subsequently, the appearance of the building changed significantly: elements in the Rococo style appeared, the facade of the building “acquired” bay windows with balconies. The interior also did not escape changes - frescoes were added. During its history, the Nostice Palace has changed a number of owners. So, at one time, the embassy of the Netherlands was located within its walls. The building is currently occupied by the Czech Ministry of Culture. One of the premises of the palace was given over to a large library, which bears the name of Josef Dobrovsky, a Czech philologist and linguist. In addition to the library, the building houses an art gallery and a concert hall. During the open days in the palace there are guided tours for everyone.

Nostice Palace is a beautiful building located on the Maltese Square in the historic district of Prague's Mala Strana. The construction of this magnificent palace by the architect Francesco Caratti was commissioned by the family of Count Nostitz, a very famous patron at the time. Its construction began in the XVII century in the Baroque style, but a year later in the main portal of the palace marked some elements and attributes of the Rococo style. The interior was changed by applying original frescoes and famous mythological subjects on the walls, statues of Roman emperors by the best students of the great MJ Brocoff were installed, the facade of the building was decorated with bay windows with balconies and statues of rulers.
