The late Gothic tower - "Dusty Dam", which means "Powder Gate", was built in 1475 and served as part of the capital's fortifications and at the same time a monumental gate to the Old Town. From here the coronation procession of Czech kings entered Prague. The tower is decorated with numerous sculptures and stucco, most of which are created by its creator - the famous architect Matthew Reisek. In the XIX century the tower was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style. The total height of the tower is 65 meters, the observation deck is located at a height of 44 meters; the tower can be climbed by overcoming 186 steep stone steps. The current name of the tower was given in the eighteenth century, when it served as a warehouse of gunpowder.
