Monument to the Bremen Town Musicians in Bremen

Monument Bremen Town Musicians, Sculpture The Bremen Town Musicians, Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten
Germany, Bremen
The bronze monument to the Bremen Town Musicians was created by the Berlin sculptor Gerhard Marx in 1951 with funds donated by local residents. There is a monument at the western wall of the city hall. The sculpture depicts a donkey, a dog, a cat and a rooster standing on top of each other. There is a legend that if you make a wish and rub the donkey's nose, it will come true. In 2007, a singing manhole was installed next to the monument: you need to throw a coin into it and from there you will hear the voices of these fabulous musicians.
The monument to this animal-bird quartet has become a symbol of Bremen and attracts crowds of tourists.

I managed to visit Bremen as part of a tourist trip. Such a beautiful city, typically German - with the purity inherent in the Germans. Tourists, of course, many ... The tale of Bremen musicians has become a hallmark of this city, not only monuments, but also anything with the image of the heroes of this tale are found on the streets of the city. But if only this glorified Bremen, no one would come here, so the architecture of the city and the history do not leave indifferent .. .

We have a special relationship with the Bremen Town Musicians, thanks to the 1969 cartoon. The tale was written by the Grimm brothers Jacob (1785-1863) and Wilhelm (1786-1859) in 1819. The source of inspiration for them was folklore, the collection of which they devoted years of their lives. The bronze monument to the Donkey, the Cat, the Dog and the Rooster was created in 1953 by Gerhard Marx, it was installed on the Market Square of their hometown. Musical monument - next to the pavement there is a well covered with a lid with a slot for coins.
