The Viljandi Order Fortress is perhaps the first and only thing you can learn about when you are interested in information about the Estonian city of Viljandi. Viljandi Fortress (Fellin Fortress) is considered the largest fortress in Livonia - it was founded by the Crusaders in the 13th century. However, after the Swedish-Polish-Russian wars, ruins remained from the fortress, which have survived to this day. Today, only a person with good imagination and appropriate historical training can imagine what the fortress looked like before its complete destruction in the 17th century. However, even if you do not fully possess these qualities, this will not prevent you from walking nicely among the ruins and enjoying the picturesque views of the lake from here. Festivals are held on the territory of the fortress, as well as performances and open-air concerts; for these purposes, there is an auditorium with rows of benches and a small stage.
