Hamata is 3 coral islands in the very south of Marsa Alam directly opposite the port of Hamata. You need to get 2 hours by minibus to the port, and then by sea on a yacht. It doesn't take long to sail on the sea. The islands are small, the coral sand is just snow-white and soft, like flour. They land on the first island, you can sunbathe and wander there. The island itself is nothing but sparse vegetation, but birds of prey nest there. If you come close to the nest, adult birds begin to get nervous and bravely drive away tourists. Around the other two, you just swim over the coral.
We have been to the Hamata Islands twice. First time in April 2017 They took an individual yacht for the company: Hamata islands + fishing. We were very unlucky with the weather, it had rained before. Yes, there is such a miracle in Egypt.
The sky was overcast, and the visibility was very poor on the corals, but even with such visibility, it was clear that the coral here is unusual, lively and bright, the shape is very diverse, the living creatures are present, you can swim for hours. I saw the striped Napoleon for the first time. We fished from the yacht, the best trophy was a big grouper. We took the fish with us to the hotel. There, the cook prepared fish soup and a grilled dish for a small fee.
The second time was in May 2017. We took a group tour, but also Hamata + fishing. We were lucky with the weather, visibility is 100%. The coral is simply magnificent, it is difficult to describe, you must see. There are not many living creatures, but what colors of coral !! ! Highly recommend.
