Scraping up a mountain was not the first time for me, but I never happened to do it in the dead of night. Yes, and a decent height - 2285! At that time, perhaps, this is the highest place that I climbed on foot. And all for what? And I love to conquer all sorts of peaks! Mostly to overcome myself, my laziness. To then shout: "Yu-hoo! I did it! "
The spiritual component, in this particular case, is also important. They say that there, on the mountain of Moses, all sins are forgiven. But I did not perform any special ritual, I forgot to find out this moment. Well, I read a couple of prayers. Maybe it will count automatically? Although, hardly. Okay, let's work it out.
The climbing process was very entertaining.
Having received a flashlight from the guide (one for two), without waiting for the rest of the group, they rushed forward, overtaking the strings of pilgrims crawling with their tongues on their shoulders, as well as camels carrying lazy or rich or sick tourists, constantly risking falling into their waste products (camels, not tourists). Looking down, we saw just a fantastic picture - a glowing wriggling snake. These are tourists with flashlights crawling uphill.
A myriad of dust particles danced in the beams of the lanterns. At first I thought it was rain, but it was dry. From this picture it became difficult for me to breathe (I am very suspicious about this).
I, with my aching heart, stopped quite often to catch my breath, but still, we overtook almost all the groups that had advanced before ours, and were able to take an advantageous position in a rather limited area behind the church. And they waited for the dawn. It was very cold.
We were in ski jackets and got pretty warm during the ascent, but after sitting for a while, we began to freeze slightly.
Well, it's finally getting gray. Everyone clattered their cameras. The sun has risen! It's just a delight! Meet the sunrise at the top before I somehow did not happen! The photo session lasted for some time at the top, and then along the way down. Going down is much more pleasant - and easier, and you can see everything. In the light of day, everything is perceived in a completely different way! The mountains are very unusual - completely lifeless, but still beautiful in their own way. And the camels are so pretty! And breathe easily, because the dust particles are not visible!
Below we also visited the monastery of St. Catherine. But I think that you need to go there separately with the appropriate attitude.
Conclusion: What could be more beautiful than the dawn on the mountain of Moses? Only sunset in Sri Lanka! : ))))))
