Went up with my husband. We took a night tour, we took it from an agency on the street (Dahab). The group was 10 people, international, language - English.
What is important to take with you:
Foreign passports, warm removable socks (when you are already at the very top waiting for the sun, it will be especially damp and cold), backpacks on which you can sit during the journey, or mini karimats (the road itself is thought out comfortably: after 1.5-2 km there will be a stop, with the opportunity to buy hot drinks and relax, but the stones are cold - therefore I recommend taking a mini carimat). Flashlight (the sky shines brightly at night, but there are areas where you need to be careful - if there is no flashlight, take a phone and a power bank), chocolate / nuts / water / a thermos of hot tea. During the journey and on the mountain there is no Internet. The climb itself is not difficult if you do not move quickly, carefully and calmly go. It fascinates the sky, the air and, of course, the sun, which, as it were, is born.
The feeling that you find yourself in the Biblical time - in the campaign is silence, camels with guides scurry around from time to time, Bedouins and of course the sky with bright stars. What else is important: track shoes (not corals, not flip-flops, etc. ) and warm but at the same time light clothing. If possible, take track sticks. How our tour started: at 22:00 we arrived at the agency in Dahab, got into a mini bus, traveled for 1.5 hours, there were 3-4 checkpoints along the way, where passports were checked. Arriving at the foot of the mountain, you will have the opportunity to go to the toilet (3 pounds - take small money), buy a warm pareo, and so on. Then we pass the frame, show the bag (you can’t take alcohol and sharp objects: knives and so on). At the foot of the mountain, a local guide followed us and we started climbing. It is comfortable that groups rise at different times (in total, there were 300 people on the mountain in the morning, different ages 20-60 years old), there is no crowd when ascending.
We had stops (tea - 2 dollars, etc. ). I don’t know about the toilet, it’s probably at bus stops, but walking in the mountains is strictly prohibited. I wish you pleasant emotions, I recommend everyone to go, don't worry - it's not as difficult as it seems.
