Ronda rightfully belongs to the most picturesque cities in Spain. After five centuries of Moorish rule, the troops of the Catholic kings occupied Ronda in 1485. The old city is located on a plateau, which was then connected to the northern new part by Moorish bridges over the deep gorge of El Tajo, through which the Guadolevin River flows. There is a long descent to the old bridges, and then a fair ascent of a hundred meters to the plateau, so in 1784-1793 the New Bridge was built flush with the plateau, connecting the new and old parts of the city.
